many audio-cds didnt even play in half my devices because of all the copyright bullshit.
i have a metal-torrentsite on autodownload and only buy merch and t-shirts anymore.
This is just one battle. The best outcome would be that Sony as a parent company realizes that its Playstation division is being mishandled and moves it out of the US or at least changes management.
This whole thing happened because their first party games have been lousy and now that one of them is bringing in player numbers like their games used to, they couldn't resist trying to capitalize on it to make up for the flops.
Some stipulations are so unreasonable that, TBF, that doesn't matter. If it says in your employment contract that your boss might shag your wife, and then he shags your wife, you still have the right to send the both of them tumbling down a flight of stairs.
In that case, Sony was deliberately and knowingly selling their games in regions where the customer would be unable to fulfill to the EULA after 3 months. Then they took their money anyway.
The fact that Sony CDs installed rootkits on people's PC a while back makes it pretty damn clear what their position is
That was what got me to stop giving Sony money. I haven't regretted that decision once.
"a while back"
yes, just yesterday...we totally aren't old farts ahem.
that was actually what led me to start pirating. my own goddamn bought cd trying to install a rootkit when i tried to burn a copy for the car.
I recall that the root kit was even flagged by virus/malware scanners at the time

This last paragraph nails it.
The problem is just like Louis point out, all modern large companies are out to screw rather than a more symbiotic deal.
Jack Welch would be proud.
Sounds like the uproar has been way bigger than Sony predicted and has rolled back this change (for now)
TBF, the Sony requirement was there at launch, it just wasn't enforced.
Buried in their TOS.
Fuck those and fuck you for defending them.

No doubt, but what moron signs such a contract?
