Yandex often lists RT and Sputnik first. I actually like it, and I don't really care if the Russian government gets my usage data as much as western big tech. They have much less they can really do with it.
It's ridiculous that we have so much more computer power than we did when Google built their search index 20+ years ago and ended up with fewer search engines producing worse results.
Brave is fine, it's just still old-school where you have to actually know what you're searching for. "That movie with the cool guy in it" isn't going to work there.
Just searched Brave for Israel / Palestine and half the results are from Al-Jazeera, which at least isn't our legacy media.
Brave search is just google lite at this point. Same for duckgo. I finalky switched to starpage and yandex. And atleast yandex has a working reverse search

So long as Google remains the sole engine to support -"exact phrase or single word" it's going to be the only useable engine. And I hate that.
I use yandex for general searches, Bing for local business, google for technical stuff
I don't use search engines anymore.
