I know we all get tired of meta posts, but this has been a complaint for ages.
Can we please simplify the rules and then enforce them equally and consistently? As is, we've had pretty sporadic enforcement, where bad stuff - porn, clearly bad faith trolling, and pedophilia advocation, to name a few recent standouts - have stayed up for around a week. Meanwhile, some much less offensive stuff, from established and active members, sometimes gets taken down immediately, which just stifles discussion. (And, no, I was not moderated, this isn't me bitching about something done to me.)
This isn't Reddit; we don't need these rules. We can simplify this all down to 'no porn, no advocating illegal activity, and if you're a handshake you don't have human rights.'
KiA2 happened because Antonio believed the will of the users on OG KiA, expressed through a vote, was being usurped by the mods. As such, I think this forum in particular should be open to voting on matters like the ones discussed in OP. This forum shouldn’t be run like a subreddit.
Let’s have a vote.
People have been bitching about how many unnecessary rules we've had since the very beginning, and the mods don't listen.
Pretty sad. As you say, the offshoot from KiA happened due to mod maleficence, and then the move over here happened because Reddit was forcing more bullshit on us. But then we just got stuck with a bunch of Reddit-tier nonsense regardless. Very frustrating.
There's only one janny. Unclear why he chooses to spend his time doing this.
To undermine the community of course. There's a reason he constantly targets good faith users but leaves obvious spam and glowie shit up for days on end.
And actual porn and pedophilia...but I guess you already said glowie.
Long ago I asked Dom why the hell he's such a faggot enforcing reddit-era rules, and his excuse was something along the lines of "I'm protecting the site owners". I reminded him that Consume Product exists, so he's either retarded or lying.
or both
I was both being generous, as well as going back to the formation of this sub. We had multiple mods for a bit, I believe. But, yeah, fair enough; currently any mod complaints fall squarely on Dom. He does some things great, to be fair, and it's not like I hate him...but he also both over and under moderates, and I'll call him out on that. He's also not great at listening to complaints, as has been mentioned; we've complained about the retarded rules for years.
I imagine that's because its literally only him and he doesn't seem to treat this as a fiefdom of power. He shows up at random, does a lot of shit at once, and then disappears for long stretches.
Its why he doesn't respond to comments, takes days to respond to reports, and probably doesn't hear any complains between the mass spam that piles up from the guys who normally make these topics so they can edge post.
You're being too generous. Him joining the 41% club would an unqualified positive. The shit that would benefit from his intervention is the shit he takes his sweet ass time on.
They don't enforce them much though. So fuck all the jews and may god destroy Israel
How are mods picked? Do they apply? Are they elected?
Neither. Someone creates a new sub, then rules it forever, unless they step down, I believe.
C can probably assign them being an admin. KIA2 was one of the original subs (one that got a .win domain) that moved over, which is why I imagine he's a mod here.
Mods start out as the spawn of single mothers and deadbeats. They then spend their formative years being unloved by their mother and mocked and belittled by their peers due to their total lack of redeeming qualities. As they age, they are drawn to online "relationships" where they can play pretend that they aren't the complete waste of oxygen that everyone knows them to be IRL.
Eventually, the chip on their shoulder from being universally hated combines with their aversion to touching grass, and they seek out power in the only places they can qualify. Since they are terminally online and have no skills that would pay them to be in charge of something, they have to resort to moderating forums. They don't mind doing it for free since their compensation is that they get to have their revenge on the type of people who made fun of them as kids. They get off to banning these people while rubbing their two inch girldick with glee. They then cry themselves to sleep and get up to do it all again the next day.
Edit: tldr - mods aren't picked or elected. They are born and bred for a single useless purpose.
I vote rule 16 to be removed.
I've been doing some noticing lately, and I think discussing certain things I've noticed should be allowed.
How does this apply to groups like Communists or Queers? They identify this way, but it's also an ideological position, which can absolutely be inferior and conspiring.
They're literally trying to ruin video games via orgs like the GDC and SBI, am I allowed to say that?
Communists and queers are ideological groups, which are choices. The rule is about identity groups, which are circumstances of birth. It's pretty obviously a "don't be a collectivist lefty faggot spouting racial idpol to forum slide and degrade board quality" rule.
Yes, but not if you say it like (((this))).
Agreed.
