In Griffin’s case, the New Mexico Supreme Court rejected his appeal because he missed filing deadlines after the district court judge ruled against him.
Griffin’s challengers said that made him ineligible to seek review from the nation’s high court.
So, they rejected certiorari on a case that was already closed due to a procedural error on the part of the appellant? It doesn't really make the same statement the article leads you to believe.
Nonetheless, restricting the ruling on Trump to candidates for federal office was incredibly short-sighted and stupid. They basically opened the door for states and counties to outlaw candidates based on party affiliation.
If you don't think within a couple years we will see a case of a Democrat-control political subdivision declaring the Republican party at large to be a terrorist organization or some other nonsense and remove all of their candidates off the ballot you haven't been paying attention to how the left operates.
To be entirely fair, they kind of had to limit it to federal office as that was what was at issue in the case. SCOTUS has, generally, always handed down narrow rulings. However, its often (D)ifferent when it's a cause certain judges like.
i'd say they should beat them to the punch but this is the republican party we're talking about, they're only allowed to bow their heads and act the part of the good little cuck.
It's a logical extension of the justification they used to put Trump back on the ballot in Colorado. Roberts wanted a 9-0 ruling, so he had to use the only justification that the commie caucus on the Court would back: One state can't unilaterally disqualify a federal candidate. That's fine in a vacuum, but it pretty much guaranteed this result by omission. They should have shut this shit down by saying you can't use dirty tricks to get your political opponents kicked off the ballot.
We need new elections for every single elected position in the federal government, with no incumbents permitted initially and two term limits going forward. All federal offices need to be closed and selectively reopened on an as-needed basis to flush the bureaucratic offal.

I can see Washington State declaring anyone not a Democrat as a terrorist. It's already sort of happening.
The courts are every bit as much a part of the problem as the media. Looking to them to save the country is foolish.
Why would they save you from themselves?

Only the Congress has authority to enforce the 14th Amendment. States can't legally use the 14th.

Anything short of this will not be sufficient.
that's just rearranging deck chairs on the titanic.
we need a complete and total purge of the bureaucracy.
