I would really love to watch the new Shogun. My first filter -- not too many chicks -- worked! But then... a chick was the 3rd actress listed, so do we have to suffer through a 'strong female character'?

I'm worried about the coming rugpull, they typically throw it into woke overdrive in the 2nd or 3rd season. Going to just wait on this one for now, might check it out much later when I know what I'm getting into.
It is a miniseries of 10 episodes. No second season.
So far it has been pretty faithful to the book. They've obviously had to cut some stuff out, because even a 10-hour season of television is not enough to portray all of the material in a James Clavell doorstopper. But the scene with Mariko picking up the naginata and attacking Ishido's men is in the novel if I recall.

Oh, you mean the new show? Haven't watched it yet but from what I've read it seems to be what I'll call "Early 2000's woke" at the worst, with just a little bit of questionable stuff, but it doesn't derail the story/better characters.
