Looks like something that might actually be worthwhile to watch.

Sensationalized news hates it because there's no black people. I've only seen a trailer and was worried it'd go girlboss with it. The opinions I've been hearing from critics is that it's really good in the first three episodes they'd seen thus far.
I've been slightly interested simply because Hiroyuki Sanada is playing not-Tokugawa.
There are blacks. When the camera faces west, squint real hard and you might see them 8000 miles away. Where they historically lived.
No girl bosses. In that sense, the hierarchy seems accurately portrayed.
Is the original mini series good? I remember my parents watching it when I was little but at that age it didn’t interest me
I certainly liked it enough, though I'll also admit when I saw it in full with my dad, it was a time after I'd played Nioh, which if you haven't realized, is a fictionalized account of the real figures of the time (maybe not the ninjas), where Shogun is a more realistic account of the time with fictional characters.
Look up the Blind samurai series.
Same here, I'm almost convinced to watch anything with Sanada in it, but have been wary about all his newer stuff. Been a big fan of his since the In The Line of Duty / Royal Warriors stuff.
