Syrian Refugees Sympathetically Profiled By BBC Now Convicted For Rape Of 13-Year-Old Schoolgirl - The Publica
Two Syrian refugee brothers who were sympathetically profiled by the BBC in 2016 have been convicted of the horrific rape of a 13-year-old girl in Newcastle. Omar and Mohamed Badreddin, 26 and 23, were found guilty of multiple counts of rape at Newcastle C...
This is a dumb question from a non Brit but how does the BBC justify itself? Or how do they get away with forcing people to pay for their service when they are far left ideologues?
They're just a propaganda outlet for the British government. They don't need to justify anything, when they're paid by the government.
Become active in the campaign to defund the BBC.
I'm American but also want to know. I found this: (https://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/check-if-you-need-one)
The BBC seems to justify itself with, "because thats the law." https://www.bbc.com/news/explainers-51376255
You literally don't have to pay it and can just ignore them.
Old people are too afraid and end up paying it.
And I'm not surprised to be honest. The letters they send you monthly are particularly intimidating.
In order to get out of paying it you need to send them "proof"; which is impossible now as they basically class anything as a potential to receive signals and thus you need a license.
The letters vary in design but they're usually plastered with you will be fined £1000 for not paying.. and "we've send out an agent to investigate, pay now and don't get fined"
I didn't pay for a year and received a number of them. Never had a dude knock on my door though.
I guess I meant in the sense that they are supposed to be unbiased in theory but they are anything but. I’m just curious how they get away with that
State funding, essentially. Same as ABC and SBS in Australia, CBC in Canada, Deutsche Welle, France Télévisions, etc.
It basically means that they don’t have to compete for funding, and can put out whatever agenda they want, provided they tow the line of whatever party is currently in government (or, in many cases, more like what the deep state wants)…
The US equivalent is PBS and NPR, and I’m sure you know what those are like. It’s just that they’re nowhere near as big, mainstream or popular as the equivalent examples I provided, in other countries…
I see. Yea I’ve learned to despise NPR and PBS news or documentaries
The organization that polices against media bias in the UK is also biased.
That would explain it
If you have a TV, you have to pay a license, and that funds the BBC.
They're only now beginning to weaken because people aren't buying TV's as much.
