Yes, it is garbage that the console manufacturers are banning access to games for media you uploaded (rather than just cutting off access to the media sharing features), and it is also garbage that MS apparently put three strikes on obviously related videos released back-to-back rather than just a single strike.
That said, though, when a guy records obviously 17+ content from a 17+ game and then (apparently) puts those clips online where anyone can access them, you should expect some type of strike.
Why don't they have restrictions if it's uploaded through their platform TO their platform? It knows what game is being recorded, it's in the metadata. It knows how old any given user claims to be. Parental controls exist on all modern consoles. Why should recording a M rated game be a bannable offense? They sold you the game. The content is clearly fine for them to make money off of.
Yeah, I'm basically saying that if a kid isn't allowed to play a game, then they shouldn't be able to access screenshots of that game, either, so nudes in a game available on that platform shouldn't be a freaking issue.
Anyway, they're fucking schizo over this shit, I'm sure The Brass also parrots the party line about gay shit being available to the same kids they don't want seeing gay shit from screenshots. It's confusing.
It's not confusing when you understand that parents essentially expect games developers to do their job for them and corporations especially are fucking terrified of lawsuits and bad PR involving kids on their platforms. Not justifying it obviously because it is a load of shit and I wish game devs would have the balls to openly tell parents to fuck off on television. However that's not the world we live in and most of them are hand wringers.
This one of the same problems you have with sites like youtube and their youtube kids section. Arsehole parents who don't teach their children to stay off certain things and content to watch out for if they're going to use tech. Either because they're too retarded to do it themselves or too lazy.
The same people that banned a guy for entering his actual home address where it literally asks for it? (He lives in Fort Gay, VA)
Dog, there are a lot of problematic things about console gaming.
One of the reasons why I will never get a microsoft account. Even if I have to switch to Linux.
Eh, mixed feelings on this.

If the console manufacturer cares so much, why don't they just disable features durring those games/offending scenes.
Or simply age-gate uploaded content from M rated games ...
The issue involves shit like nudity.
