These days, that seems like too high of a burden to ask, unfortunately. I've been in a number of conversations about "the news" with people aggressively defending positions that were based on the headline alone because they hadn't read the article and gotten the salient facts.
Go back to see the response the media had when Trump said in an interview: "Boy, you're a nasty woman". That's how they would have responded.
But of course, like back then, all it would have taken for people to agree with the take would be to actually watch the context and see how obnoxious the twat was being.
