Far be it for me to second-guess the billionaire, but I really hate his management style at twitter. I wouldn't be so personally involved in everything. This is another example - either AJ violated rules or he didn't. (he didn't) If you want to make an executive decision to unban him then do so. Why make a big deal out of it? If any of us get banned he's not going to hold a vote to unban us. So much for Elon hating the 'lords and peasants' system...
But his methods make our enemies seethe so I can't complain too much. I get that he's doing the Pontius Pilate thing so when people complain he can say "I didn't want to, but the people voted for it."
I get the feeling either it's his autism or he's been becoming more Trump-ish. Either he's an unfocused mess just flitting about and changing his mind, or he knows many people hate him, so why not go for a trolling while keeping his hands clean.
I'm actually going to defend Elon on this one, I do think he's genuinely midwit when it comes to politics. I have to wonder if with all the shit he's been through and seeing he's potentially come to terms with Alex Jones compared to before and is realising. Okay, maybe this guy has actually been fucked over hard even if he said something I don't agree with and the attacks on him have been completely unreasonable. People can change their opinions over time and I wonder if that's what's happened here. Maybe Tucker Carlson for example sat him down and explained exactly what these guys did to Alex.
It's happened with people who have hated Count Dankula in the past, then they realised that they'd been had by the media. Even though they don't like Dankula they can discern when they've been totally bullshitted.
Why should it be a polled decision, Elon?
Free speech isn't decided upon by the mob. It's an unalienable right endowed by our Creator, remember?
Twitter has always had its problems. Even if Musk has made some improvements, he likes to play childish games as well.

Musk's greatest priority is to keep his personal brand fresh in people's mind. That's why.
