The Hunger Games is a VASTLY overrated series, both book and movies.
The first book was quite good. But the second and third were just progressively worse.
Honestly, I preferred when it was called "Battle Royale".
Reject Modernideen.
Embrace BR and Lord of the Flies.
I preferred when it was called Running Man
Ironically, Stephen King's book was awful.
The seed of what would become the Battle Royale craze was there, but it was so poorly depicted that it's easy to forget that it laid the groundwork all those years ago
The movie with Arnold did wonders to really bring that world to life in a visual way that far exceeded King's limited portrayal and descriptions of the dystopia.
never read it, cant stand Stephen King, but the movie was great
I only saw the first movie and thought wow, what a horrible piece of garbage. The classic problem of female authors: passive protagonist.
The only thing Katniss does that shows any initiative is take her sister's place. That's it. She is a total charisma vacuum, she spends the rest of the movie hiding and running away, and when it comes down to the finale instead of doing something interesting and killing her friend, she does the most passive-aggressive stupid teen girl thing ever: threatens to kill herself, and it works for some reason.
It's completely retarded "there has to be a winner" umm no, having the last survivors kill themselves is a perfectly fine ending that ties up the event nicely. The evil government just gives both provinces food and there's no living survivors to lead a movement against you. Duh.
Horrible, stupid, unwatchable trash.
The movie people asked her to write another book just so they could adapt it.
I remember being so mad when the third book didn't leave the protagonist as a broken husk of a person and somehow pulled a happy ending out of its ass at the last moment instead of playing things out to their logical and depressing conclusion. However I don't even remember what happened so they certainly weren't memorable.
She was a depressed shut in that barley ate and didn’t bath for weeks. Then she goes outside and sees peta. She does the female thing of trying to play with her hair only for her hand to get stuck because of how filthy she was. I remember it because the visual is hilarious to me.
I thought the first book was just boring. I had started it, read half way and just forgot about it for years.
