So as you're all probably aware the UK is pretty strict on its gun laws, imitation firearms have laws which mostly fall down to common sense. If your gun looks real, don't go waving it around in public or you might have issues with the fuzz.
So it piqued my interest the other day when I saw this article pop up https://archive.ph/stsIo a kid got rammed off his bike for having a water pistol? How shocking! Even the article banner shows you a bright pink pistol, how could the police be so incompetent?
Now cut forward a whole 6 minutes.. it's because the kids black obviously! https://archive.ph/yzis7 And it's totally not because his water pistol looks more like a glock than an actual water gun... It's white and blue!
I've seen guns cerakoted in every color of the rainbow, not to mention random decals and 3D printed shit. I'm against it personally, I think guns should be gun colored and toys should be toy colored, but that's not the world we live in.
If a youth jogs into my house with something that looks like a rare CS:GO drop, I'm blasting him without a second thought.
I think this is stupid from the premise that EVERYONE should have the ability to purchase and carry REAL weapons whether that's guns, swords, a tank etc
But going into the cucked mind of the UK police, given the look of it, the area it was being used in AND the fact he was 13 (a lot of gangs use underage members to do crimes as they know they'll get lighter sentences if caught) I can theoretically see where the mistake can be made.
Children shouldn't. And if you're carrying a real weapon you should be keeping it holstered unless the situation means it would be justifiable to shoot something.
That's an absurd argument on it's premise, children DON'T have the same legal rights as adults, that's the default of every nation.
And everyone who LEGALLY carries already does that, it's gun safety 101
And why don't they? Because they don't have the mental development and experience to be granted those rights. It's why we don't let 14 year olds vote (although the left sure is trying). That same reasoning is why children should not be able to own firearms (although they can use them with supervision).
UK police don't have the justification for that kind of nonsense. Someone makes a stupid accusation and you or your kids lives are at risk from crooked cops.
The parents are right to complain but wrong to make it about race.
At least police in the US can realistically claim there's a credible threat but even then a lot of Swatting is bullshit.
Bullshit, there's something she's not telling, the fact that the police didn't immediately clam up and turn off their body cams is an indication. Also I'm somebody who really doesn't like the UK police because of their constant state harassment, but even I think something is up here. My money is on the teenager being really fucking dumb even by the standards of 'teenage communities' and he conducted himself really badly, police respond with force. Mother gets the call and starts freaking out because she can't believe 'her baby' would ever do such a thing so she's on the attack.
The response to someone with a gun is not to ram them off their bike, even if they're not supposed to have it. So who knows what happened. kids constantly testing these cops, and one time they hit back by failing to hit the brakes.
I've seen that waterpistol, a friend brought it on a trip. It definitely looks real enough at a glance, and it has very similar proportions to a glock. We quickly learned to keep it hidden in public.
Whichever parent let this kid wave it around in public should be facing legal consequences.
