Had the exact same reaction. Weird implications aside, that was one of the most creative and amusing animation shorts I've ever seen. I was captivated the whole 6 minutes and thinking how this was drawn by real hands.
What is their excuse this time? I’ve heard she was modeled after a black singer so I guess they will use that. But honestly I fully expect every lead role to be black at this point.
We already had the best version of Betty Boop on film and that was in 'Who framed Rodger Rabbit'

She was modeled after Helen Kane, who is not black.
