It literally never happened. Prior to 2019, the company sent political donations to some republican candidates who opposed gay marriage, and that was enough to get the entire political Left to refuse to ever eat at Chik-Fil-A... forever. I will remind you, they also funded Democrats who probably did.
The former owner of the company was forced out by this controversy well after it took place. He decided that being a psychotic voluntary sonderkommando in response to the George Floyd riots was the correct solution, so he shined the shoes of a black 'Christiaan' rapper on television, and then preceded to condemn the white race for their alleged crimes.
He's an embarrassment to his father and his family, and I don't go there anymore.
I'll eat Arby's and Taco Bell for the rest of my life, rather than acquiesce to the insane ramblings of a lunatic demanding admonitions of alleged race crimes.

Both of them opposed it publicly, frequently, before they were in favor of it. It didn't dampen 1/10th of 1% of their support.
It gets even funnier when you find out the dreaded anti-gay charity that communist fixated on and screamed about for months wasn't like the Westboro Baptist Church (which is another example of communist fixation and screaming), but the Salvation Army.
