I really don't want to dignify my feed by linking the articles that is highlighting this outrage issue.
Heck does anyone over here really care?
So I'm getting feed about twatters upset that in Gundam: The Witch From Mercury the marriage between the two main female characters is up for interpretation. Aside from the show having Revolutionary Girl Uterna levels of implied lesbianism, it's been an okay show about revenge, corporate shadow wars turning into full scale war and of course giant robot war machines. The alphabet people are mad that the corporate/doctrine led marriage isn't directly stated, and pissed off at Bandai for catering to "bigots" for taking a abstract middle ground.
Are these people really fans of Gundam? Do they really care about the harder hitting themes of this story? Do they even care about the mechs? Or were they only distracted by the awakened hijinks between the two female characters for basically being stuck in what is the corporate levels of a shotgun wedding?
Gundam: Witch From Mercury is an okay Gundam show so far, only see the first season, but I am ready to watch the second because the build up to full on war was intense.
A bit, yes. I like Gundam in general and consider myself a fan though not obsessive, but I did not care for this latest take. Keep your slice of life, school days, demi yuri trash out of my mecha shows, please and thank you. I have written this series off as "not for me" which is fine as long as it does not become a trend like Star Wars/Dr. Who/etc.
In asked order, no, no, no, only to the point that queerness is their sole reason for being and anything that affirms queerness is good and right.
it's been said before and I'll repeat it: it's a religion. a very corporate religion at that. they have trained their acolytes to consume and buy literally anything so long as their holy prophet is cast in a positive light, that holy prophet being queerness.
Honestly, it is a brilliant strategy. Strip people down to being defined by a single trait, emphasize that trait as being wholly positive and state that anything other than complete and ecstatic affirmation for the chosen trait is extremely evil/bad/negative. Gather a group of the traited together and watch them self oppress while also trying to gain power over the non-traited.
Despite the name. Watch Gundam Unicorn. It's short, sweet, takes place in the official canon, and it's production quality is top tier. The action and drama hit very hard.
Addendum - the OVA version, not the cut for tv version.
Also to the Japanese, a lot of stuff like that is funny to them. They find cross dressing hilarious.
We all did at one time...
I still do.
No. They’re not fans of anything other than pushing their twisted ideology.
Fuck this noise and give me more Gundam Hathaway with the delicious eye candy that is Gigi, and the man Hathaway.
You sound like a recent fan, praising Hathaway after what he's done and will lead to.
Nah man I'm on team Mafti too.
I'm excited to see how this Greek tragedy fall from grace style story will play out
I mean, I know how it ends but still psyched for the whole story.
IIRC Hathaway is a whiny faggot and never did anything of value. Animating hathaway's flash is just a "we were too lazy to write a new series" move - I don't recall anyone actually liking hathaway's flash back when it was new.
Gundam has become too popular. It WILL turn to shit.
Look at the Gundam reddit: half of it is leftists whining about not having their gender extremism acknowledged.
Better be prepared to move on. It's only a matter of time until these locusts destroy the franchise.
Daily reminder that reddits are just western controlled nodes while japanese stick to their own communities.
The franchise will probably hit it's closure for me when the last Hathaway Flash movie comes out.
However if Sunrise dares to make a Gundam Gaia Gear animation, I'll loose my mind and get excited. I don't know too much of the story but it sounds like a baseline Gundam story, fine by me.
Y'all should at least see the artwork for it though, it's fantastic. Sample below

Hey good news. Atleast troons would think twice supporting gundam. Anyways S2 sucked but it didnt sucked as hard as ibo2. And Gunpla sales are up and thats all that matters.
No, that's bad. That means it's gotten too popular and leftist subversion is imminent.
Better be prepared to move on. Kotobukiya has tons of great mecha kits too (https://www.kotobukiya.co.jp/en/product/model-kits/) and the Chinese are on the cutting edge of Gundam-style kits these days (e.g. Motor Nuclear, In Era+).
Its irrelevant. Sunrise doesnt give much shit about anime audience compared to their domestic and asia market. Why do you think theyre makig p bandai harder and harder to access in the west?
Never were, are not, never will be.
Never did, do not, never will.
Never did, do not, never will.
Always were, are, always will.
They are political homosexuals. That's all they care for.
...Prepare the GENESIS weapon.
I wish I knew this reference but I will laugh anyways.
I literally did not give a shit about ANY of the arguments the twatter freaks are screaming about, I was happy they ended up together. I was thinking 'thank god they are with each other and seem happy after ALL the shit they went through'
Spoiler warning as you said you only watched the first half:
I like how they skipped past terrorism, child soldiers, corporate sabotage, WMDs, Risk of AI, forced marriage, maiming, technology that cripples the user to focus on "they never kissed in the end to confirm our ship". Bitches, they BOTH got used hard by Prospera that they both spiralled into depression hard and it took Suletta everything she had to get out of it then it was thanks to her she saved Miorine from her depression spiral after seeing so many people die thanks to her actions.
After all that I have no issue with them getting together in the end because there was proper build up, character development and progression for that to happen unlike something like legend of Kora where last season they just went 'oh these two female characters that dated guys, they gay now'
Bull crap. They could have been good friends in the end. That's how it used to be.
There is zero excuse for two women to get married because life was hard.
There was a time in society where life was nothing but hardship in real life and the comforts of technology did not exist. Through war famine, raids, and revolutions, it wasn't like any average two men or two women who managed to survive through any of that decided "You know what? Let's be gay now!"
Past and current world yes. This world where cloning technology exists (spoiler in fact Suletta IS a clone) then it removes that restriction and you're free to choose straight or gay relationships.
The funny thing is actually how they seem to be the only ones in the end in that kind of relationship out of the cast but from the beginning no one gived a crap about it except Suletta. It's like a future where LGBT activists lost and everyone can be in a relationship with whoever they want (so long as past age of consent) you just can't expect special status because of it.
I was disappointed by G-Witch's ending arc, but decided that I had enjoyed the show a lot overall and wasn't sorry I watched it. That said, I'm torn on this.
On the one hand, I'm a guy and an old-guard American otaku and I like yuri. Quite a lot. And the yuri elements in G-Witch were good. Played overt for laughs, but subtle and serious in other parts, with a good vibe that lasted the entire run of the show. Few shows embrace yuri in any kind of serious way these days, and of the ones that do very, very few do it well. So I'm happy that G-Witch pulled this off.
On the other hand, the Rainbow Brigade were absolutely insufferable during the show's run. Plebbit's r/gundam had threads like "I HOPE THE ENDING IS GAY KISSING AND RAINBOW PRIDE EXPLOSIONS AND JUST OWN ALL THE HATERS AND MAKE THEM SEEEEEEEETHE!" Those people would drag down every conversation I tried to have online about the show. (I got called homophobic twice because I said I was disappointed by the lack of slow-shot, close-up mecha porn like older Gundam shows used to give us). So any change that severely pisses those people off gives me a knee-jerk "Good!" reaction.
