I enjoy the dub because I watch while I workout. I can't squint to read subtitles while I'm doing lifts. Also the dub is good so far. Some dubs add far left garbage and when I hear it I'm usually out the next episode
While the subject has been brought-up, anyone has suggestions for good fantasy anime?
After watching a movie of it, I tried the Black Clover anime but ''THE FIRST EPISODE CONSISTS OF 85% OF CHARACTERS SCREAMING'' and I didn't even finish it. It annoys me to no end.
I also watched Ningen Fushin / Disillusioned Adventurers and it was okay, just fun-enough to keep watching, because the premise was well-done. The screaming was tolerable.
The rest had problems. Some story elements were weak.
A math contest... why? No. ''Fusion fighter form'', because Japan I guess.
As you said, the animation was mediocre. I'm don't ask for the moon, but it was bad enough to be jarring.
It's really the characters development saving the day. If there is a season 2, I hope they improve... everything.
I was pleasantly surprised by how wholesome and generally well written Isekai Nonbiri Nouka and that finished airing awhile ago. Yes, it's got the isekai harem element but don't be fooled. It's one of those anime that would probably benefit from a couple more seasons, not an action style anime or anything so don't watch it for that. As for fantasy anime in general it looks like there's some watchable stuff this season generally.
One thing I have noticed is that with a lot of 'action' fantasy anime they have really gone cheap with the animation which is dumb because that's one of the main draws for action anime in general in the first place. Usually they put shitty low FPS 3D animation that hasn't even been keyframed properly over equally shitty traced/copy pasted background images that all start to look the same after awhile. I've kind of ended up instantly avoiding anime like that as a result.
Isekai Nonbiri Nouka... oh, Farming Life in Another World.
Nice one. I already watched it and I liked it.
One with a similar ''feel'' to it would be ''Campfire Cooking in Another World'', which I liked a tiny bit more.
How to put it... I rarely like the harem stuff, but it dosen't kill my interest in a show if it's not the main focus.
Like fanservice. If it's there, okay.
If the whole show is repeatedly interupted for extensive boob-fondling scenes, bye bye. ( Like in DanMachi's early episodes, but it's really just the first episodes that are like that. )
And abusive screaming all the time as a cope for ''dramatic writing / expressive character'' = I'm gone.
( Black Clover : nope halfway in the first episode, which apparently takes place in the middle of the Screaming Festival,
Record Of Lodoss War : which I tortured myself to finish : sceaming. all the time. )
Oh yeah the screaming, insecure virgin men and interruption with unnecessary fanservice tropes can fuck off which is why I was so pleasantly surprised by that one. One of my favourite things to complain about and I've noticed other anime watchers do this as well is the anime studios often rely on those shitty tactics to cover up the fact they have a low budget or just aren't very good at what they do. Anime tropes these days are lazy writing and the equivalent of girl boss bullshit in the west.
It's much easier to do boob scenes every five seconds than have the characters actually do anything other than that and another thing they frequently abuse with low budget animation is how they constantly do slideshows of 'happenings' rather than any movement. That's when you really know even the people who greenlit the shows knew it was crap and something to fill in the season.
I feel sorry for the manga writers most of all because there have been quite a few of those lately and people in the comments were swearing up and down the actual manga material was far better. A lot of it gets PG-13'd up among other things for television and that's why it turns out so bad.
Don't make me put you on the train...
🤦♂️ ... The special one people with the IQ of the average dub enjoyer get the ride.
From what I've seen so far, I don't trust your judgement about what isn't cringe
Is this worth watching in general?
I enjoyed Jujustu Kaisen. Both seasons are good.
It's well-above average for the genre, but not a masterpiece.

Or watch this.
Sticking to subs.

Oh and I loved Gobelin Slayer.
It depends on what you can stand I guess? :D

Because I don't want it to add random shit. Like no, I do not want the dub people to get creative.
Translators should just translate, any deviation from their profession should get them fired.
