Every time I read news like this I get more angry about the "muh jerb muh family" line used to excuse conservatives from political action. They didn't need to do much, just let the authorities know they have to fear them as much as the left. But most people don't even bother to cast their voting placebo. Now muh family is about to be raped by pedos and you won't even be able to whine on Facebook.
Btw there was no excuse not to make voting day a national holiday before in the US. I don't know the arguments against it, probably something retarded about enabling laziness.
All state/territory and federal elections are always held on a Saturday, and have been for decades. We also have “compulsory voting” (i.e. you get fined if you don’t)…
Turnout is, as a result, usually very high.
This is still the result.
7/8 states and territories have centre-left, or hard left governments. The remaining one is not really centre right, either. It’s just a different party, but really, policy is almost indistinguishable…
The point of democracy is to placate the people with the illusion that they have a choice or control over the government when in reality they have zero choice or control over it

Both wings of the uniparty want as few people as possible to vote, even if they claim otherwise. A smaller quorum is easier to manage (manipulate) through the media. The Democrats only target young liberals to vote. Republicans didn't have an equivalent base to "get out the vote" before Trump. Now they'd rather shove all those deplorables back into the non-voting closet and go back to max 30% turnout - unless its majority mail-in voting which allows them to get exactly the result they want.
Are you ready for mass censorship critical of rape gangs, criminal gangs,
banned for arguing against climate hysteria and lies, or nonsensical greenwashing policies that have disastrous consequences but the ''experts'' claim otherwise? ( ''harm the Australian environment'' ),
banned for opposing forced medical experiments on people because they ''experts'' think they are Gods?
Well it's here now.
There is only the present, at which time The Party is always right : Constant goalpost shifting, lies, and ''but the science changed, we were right then, we are right now, you will obey always even if later it's proven what we did was wrong and harmed people''.
I’ll be frank though: I’ve done one of these submissions before, for another policy review (slightly more work)…
It’s a huge amount of work, on your own time. Like, it would take at least an entire day, just to get it into a format that they will accept (it has to be “accessible” to all disabilities, for one thing), read all the documents, etc.
Which is how they get away with stuff.
Most people do not care enough to do that on their own time…
Hell, I don’t even have time, right now, personally…
Maybe before August 6. Maybe…
So yeah, that’s how they give this a vague cover of manufactured consent, in that you can make a submission against it, but the process is so involved that almost no one will (unless they are paid to do so). Unfortunately…

This is happening in Australia…

Go figure.
The point of democracy is to placate the people with the illusion that they have a choice or control over the government when in reality they have zero choice or control over it
I'd consider contacting my MP about this but there's not chance they wouldn't vote for it so what's the point.
Well yeah, but you're Australians. No offense

Rule #1 will be Thou shalt not speak heresy against our spiritual leaders and rightful rulers of this land, The Abbo.
"muh free democratic country"
There’s a link in the replies to that Tweet to “give feedback” on the proposed Bill…
That’s open until August 6.
If you want to maybe feel like you’re making some sort of difference, it’s an option I guess.
They’ll probably ignore it, but I guess it’s the best we’ve got.
I might do it one day if I somehow get time.
I’ll be frank though: I’ve done one of these submissions before, for another policy review (slightly more work)…
