We're going to get SO many articles about 'this shows how prevalent white supremacy is!' articles from this despite it being Egyptians saying 'go fuck yourself she wasn't black!'
Depends, I think I'm more racist towards African Americans, African and carribean migrants.
I got nothing on the Africans and carribeans living in their countries or going through years of getting a legal visa to work so my racism is conditional?
I think African Americans (in the US) are on average the most obnoxious blacks in all the world, bar none. The victim mentality the radical left taught them really did a number on them. There are some blacks in Europe, and they mostly just act like normal human beings. That is, until this American contagion spreads.
Truth. My Nigerian coworker has a pretty deep hatred for black Americans.
I'm always nervous when we go out for lunch because you just know if someone records his "gather them up and march them into the sea" rants they're going to put my ginger face on the news over the text crawl.
At this point it's less like they're making White supremacists than they are making people think blacks are inferior. They infantilize blacks to such an absurd degree, that it's the only logical outcome.
The crime rates and blacks own behavior also help with this too.
Yep. It's sad. They had a lot of potential but squandered it. No excuse they're as they are when others with much less than them come to the US fresh off the boat and manage to work themselves up to an equal footing with the native population.
Worf and La Forge were (besides Data) my favourite characters in TNG. Worf was the strong and honorable warrior and La Forge the genius science guy (with basically glasses). Those things appealed to me, I didn't care at all that they were black.
But as you said - little me apparently was racist for that.
I’m glad to see someone push back against this. I wish the British had pushed back against the Anne Boyelin show. I think you could do a show on an African kingdom but it would require showing the slavery and all the stuff they want you to think only the western world did.
Sometimes I think it’s a matter of being able to see it coming. Same principle as “fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.” The Anne Boleyn show obviously didn’t invent cynical race-swapping as an attention / free marketing generating technique, but it was definitely a huge step up in the sheer level of cynicism: the first really prominent example of just outright goading the audience by taking a main-character figure who really lived and who we have paintings of, and making her the wrong race on purpose. It was so blatantly cynical, and such a new level of boldness that we hadn’t quite encountered before, that I can forgive people for being stunned into silence a bit.
But that only works once, for obvious reasons. Once you’ve seen them blacken Anne Boleyn, you’re not surprised when they blacken Cleopatra, and people are more prepared for the fact the industry will pull stunts like that, and thus more prepared to call it out when it happens. But I’m glad people are calling it out. It could have gotten high audience scores and the Hollywood press, which operates largely as a mutual back-scratcher with actors (who scratch back by granting access which sustains the press in their cushy non-contributing jobs), would STILL write the same articles about how racist “some” fans are. They would just take a “even when the thing is successful, racists still complain” tack as opposed to this “why are racists review-bombing?!?” tack. So since the press will try to work the racism angle either way, people might as well call out shitty products and especially call out shitty cynical techniques for generating attention.
Ironically if you want a country that probably has the longest stint at no slavery, probably Britain since that was established at the time of William the Conqueror.
But no slaves at all, throughout all of history, I'm really calling a blank on that one.
It's a cheat, but Canada has never had slaves throughout its history, since it has only existed as an independent nation after the British solved that problem, and unlike some colonies didn't go right back to the slave trade after gaining independence/founding itself.
Good ol' Canada. No slaves, just horrific mass genocide.
Who is Bobby Lee? Yea, I heard The Woman King really downplayed their role in slavery. I heard the Dahomey were quite brutal. Imagine doing a movie about George Washington and not mentioning his slaves. They would go crazy. Incidentally I read that Washington had it in his will that his slaves be freed upon his death and his slaves maintained his grace willingly until they died so clearly he must have treated them decently.

I wish you were wrong. But you aren’t generally speaking

You have great faith in government processes.
Caribbean and african blacks absolutely hate american blacks.
The immigrants aren't that bad usually.
When the penalty for stopping anywhere on the scale besides 1 is exactly the same, there's no reason not to turn the volume knob up to 88.

biden keeps repeating it in the last few days

I am hopeful that the whole “fans don’t like this because they are racist” strategy is dying. Just doesn’t fly.
