I think pregnancy has long term mental effects on women with predisposed bipolar disorder. That's crazy enough to do this, and then come off as perfectly normal afterwards. Throw in a dissociative state and they honestly don't know what happened.

Can verify. My brother married a woman, they had a son, everything was fine; they had agreed to wait and plan for another child later. Then she stopped taking her birth control pill without brother's knowledge, got pregnant, had a second child, and went completely bananas--had an affair with a former lover, began constantly bitching about my brother's 'bad habits" they had both shared from the beginning, quit her job as a telephone operator and began pleading economic hardship, finally hosed him in a divorce in which she pleaded "abuse."
Had a cousin whose marriage ended because she was a completely different person after giving birth. I watched a slower version happen with another relative. Those are just a few. It's insane to watch because they go so unhinged. An aunt went from beloved to a lesbian sleeping with her therapist.
