In Australia, atm, the “current thing” is the Aboriginal Voice to Parliament, aka an unelected third chamber in our national parliament, further dividing the country by race…
Aaand I’ve already lost leftist social media “friends” over it. Not by posting about it. Not even by commenting. But by “liking” posts and/or pages that they disagree with…
“Be on the right side of history”, they cry, while steadily restricting their “friends” to only those who think exactly the same…
It’s bizarre. It really is utterly bizarre.
I don’t tend to do the same, on my end, because, I guess I’m not so “intolerant” of differing views. So I just find the whole idea rather bizarre…
Then again, the kind of people to “proudly” have politics in their profile pics/on their homepages are probably not the types you want around, anyway…
I just find it bizarre, though.
And these are graduates, for fuck’s sake.
No wonder things are so fucked, lol.
Even my cousin, who is a few years older than me - started off politically almost the same (her parents are more conservative than mine), got into “activism”, and now, now she is going to spent the next months working in Aboriginal communities (the dysfunctional shitholes you hear about on the news sometimes), in order to learn to “be a better legal advocate” for them…
She’s not even a lawyer. She’s an artist, doing post-grad law…
One of the most brainwashed people I know.
I don’t know how I didn’t continue down that same path, but somehow I didn’t…
And thus, here we are…
Classic; she's going to be a poverty tourist to give her the authority to speak on their behalf.
I've lived in low-income/high-diversity areas since I moved out of my parents house and I always loved when some bint with a first year sociology course tried to lecture me on "racism" or "issues facing the poor" but lived in the suburbs with her parents or on campus with their money.
True. Yes, I’m increasingly realizing that “Succeeded at jumping through hoops and bullshitting” ≠ intelligent or able to think for oneself, lol…
Is it really that successful at brainwashing people, though?
Dunno why it didn’t work on me, then!
Maybe I was just too cynical and burned out already when I went in, so I wasn’t so… “Susceptible”. Honestly, who knows.
When grades depend largely on how hard they agree with the narrative, "graduate" just means gleefully indoctrinated.
That's the kind of shit that'd turn me into a storm cuck honestly. Like if we're gonna play race war, I'm not just gonna stay here and get bent by retards that have yet to contribute ANYTHING to society but yet demand everything out of the white man. Fuck this. If we're not going to be equal then might as well be the villains they think we are
You're slow on the uptake by several years, but I'm glad to see you making progress.
This is how you get purity spirals, followed by further tribalism, followed by… Everything that entails.
“Be on the right side of history” shivers…
This does not end well.
But in the mean time, fuck them. 🤷🏻♂️
Graduates of woke. Duh.
It's a group of people that are increasingly looking the same, acting the same, thinking the same, dressing the same and behaving all the same... because any deviation from the accepted norm means being ejected from the in group.
But don't call it a cult, because a cult wouldn't act like that.
Can't wait for the Kool Aid and free sneakers part of this mad house.
Reminds me of a small town near where I used to live. Many turned JW and suddenly there was a third, unelected and unofficial, party in the county. Anyone who knows JW's knows how they make people shun friends that are not JW's. All they want is people being on the right side when armageddon comes they say. They proudly display their crosses and symbols on their person and in their profiles.
I find both instances of identity politics equally sad. NPC's be sheep though.
The left through history knows only hate.
I heard they were having riots over the Voice, and I said man Simon Cowell isn't that bad.
Broad addition to this: I find the concept of “one strike” or even “two strike” “friendships interesting…
I would say the vast majority of my friendships have been like this. Relationships, too.
Like, you fuck up once, and that’s it - “friendship” over.
Not even something serious. Like, say, you make an “off colour” (not racist) joke, or you’re late once, or something…
Or you don’t sufficiently bow down before some “woke” cause.
Previously, that was closing Ayers Rock to climbing (yes, really, I lost friends for saying I disagreed), or not “believing all women” during #MeToo. Then it was gay marriage. Now it’s this stupid fucking third chamber of parliament shit…
It just frustrates me, the fickleness of people…
And yeah, that’s on me. Of course it is. But if that’s “enough” for a friendship to end… Was it ever a true friendship in the first place?
A friendship based on 100% agreement on every topic was never a friendship in the first place. They were just waiting for the chance to stab you in the back over the slightest perceived 'injustice' for social credit.
Glad to see you call it Ayers Rock and not that Ululululuru garbage.
Yeah, I've had issues with family over #metoo and feminism.
It's not just a purity spiral, imo; they literally are mentally incapable of having a disagreement. They assume (smugly) that you agree with all of their assertions and, of you don't, you must be personally attacking them.
I've got no problem having the "difficult discussions" Leftists are always talking about, but they can't seem to debate without turning it into a struggle session.
graduating just means they were programmed successfully.
