The “directors” only credits are films about Pakistani women. Nothing screams Star Wars hit like a female director with zero experience in anything with a real budget or even anything remotely sci-fi related. Unless this movie is about female Tuskan Raiders harsh life there’s a reason the script writers are fleeing.
Well that’s all they care about. Kenobi should’ve been a slam dunk hit show but Disney can’t have a show with a male lead. I heard that Leia was in it for some reason and I assume the black female had a prominent role. With good writing you could’ve done a great character study examining the friendship and tragedy of Obi Wan and Anakin or loosely adapt the legends book Kenobi where he is watching Luke from afar but gets caught up with a skirmish between farmers and Tusken Raiders.
Nerdrotic said that there must be a rule now where any male lead must be surrounded by much more capable females.
There 100% is a written style guide for modern Disney productions. There’s no way all of these properties are hewing so close to these radfem standards without an actual written guide. The bait and switch is simply too prominent.
Like this?
Oh, I thought it was India. Same difference.
Honestly, this is why I prefer books. It’s much more of just, one person’s vision, sink or swim on that proposal. If I don’t like the book I can at least respect that it was someone’s vision. Yes there’s an editor or two, but nothing like what’s described above, which is art by committee. Well, except in the woke era there’s also sensitivity readers and focus group shit, but I rarely read anything pre-2010 for exactly that reason.
That actually shocked me that they would want so many hands on one thing, but to be fair they do say it is only for major IPs like James Bond, which makes some sense.
For something like that all the writers have the same background knowledge of the setting and characters so it makes it more seamless. I still agree with you though there is no way to keep the story cohesive with so many hands on it.
I’m curious, anyone still watching Mandalorian? I hear it wasn’t good or it confirms that it leads to ST. I foolishly thought at one point they would erase sequels. Honestly if I was consulting them I’d have them move past sequels and do an NJO style story about a group invading the galaxy
Honestly I tuned out after season one because the only thing Disney could feasibly do is crap it up. From everything I’ve heard I made the smart bet.
Seeing Luke was cool but after they fired Carano I was done. Been reading legends content and loving it. I’m strictly pre Disney Star Wars now
Don't buy into their lingo. What they're calling "legends" is the EU and the old-school EU canon. Just because Disney says their shitty fan fiction is the new canon doesn't have to mean fuck-all to us.
Hard agree. Corporate sanctioned thievery doesn’t mean Disney controls the canon.
True. EU all the way. I’m currently reading Fate of the Jedi series. I think it’s stupid Disney couldn’t at least have kept it going in a separate continuity. To just ignore all those fans should’ve been a major red flag
filoni confirmed at one point in an interview that the rumor you heard was true.
SWEU allows time travel via the force. ezra reached through the force and saved ahsoka from dying to vader, allowing her to appear in mandalorian after the fall of the empire. since we know vader didn't kill ahsoka as he was supposed to originally, she got mando to help grogu to call luke, who then saved grogu from the new order getting him. without grogu's body, snoke and the other sith clones are never engineered, and the sequels trilogy is erased.
then they were going to put all the explainer in the ahsoka series, which was delayed/shelved with the failure of solo.
kennedy had a huge fight with a bunch of people because filoni/favreau hid the luke ending from her. literal shouting in the board room when it premiered. kennedy made them undo it all in the first episode of season 2. she's fucking cancer.
Filoni and Favreau can't be trusted either.
i dunno. originally, when people were asking filoni about it in interviews, he was giggling like a school girl saying he can't talk about it. then there's one interview that was on youtube where he finally did admit it.
doomcock reported on the fighting in the board room, and filoni didn't disavow it, while admitting some of it was true.
and then we got season 2 where they undid it all, and filoni massively cut his interviews.
and (((favreau))) has surprisingly not been much of a message pusher. he's generally avoided all politics, and even told RDJ and don cheadle to tone it back at one point. even gina carano's shit, he avoided even commenting on it, until they baited her into some troll argument on jews and she took the bait.
That she is. At this point I just stick with ore Disney Star Wars. I’m really enjoying going through the old EU. Been reading it since 92 but there is still quite a bit I haven’t read. Disney Star Wars fans will always throw it in my face that it isn’t canon and I’m like so what.
But thanks for confirming that rumor. I heard Favreau hated how they treated Luke in ST and so did Lucas. Wouldn’t surprise me if Filoni to redeem him
Call Me Chato reviewed the first episode from a Producer's POV, it is as bad as it we thought it would be.
I just discovered him. Really good
I’m honestly noticing a lot of former Disney Star Wars shills turning on Disney. I’m in an EU/Legends group on Facebook and we were just talking about how screenrant all of a sudden had been praising the EU lately after years of crapping on it.
Part of the new disney corporate plan. It's not genuine, they're trying to turn around their business just enough to get idiots to pay more money again.
Apparently she's made 4 'girls, yay!' films in India, so Disney feminists got moist over a brown director.
