Got it recommended by a normie, so I am suspicious. Especially since it is Nickelodeon, but it is also from 2005-2008, so maybe it is not woke. Still can be shit though, which is why I am asking.

It is awesome. No woke garbage at all from what I remember. Its sequel, Legend of Korra, is big 2012 era tumblr energy. Best avoided.
And don't let them gaslight you into thinking Toph is woke because she's disabled and powerful.
She never referred to herself as "disabled."
She never bitched about "ableism."
She never bitched about "fire-centrism."
She never bitched about "feminism."
She called Aang "Twinkletoes" and constantly gave him crap for being girly.
She never asked for gibs.
She eventually became a single mother but never bitched about her ex. Just said "it didn't work out."
Still didn't ask for gibs.
She ends up living alone in a swamp taking care of all her own shit and not bothering anyone else.
She doesn't give Korra a pussy-pass and treats her like she's always treated everyone.
As a disabled man, Toph is an inspiration.
Great post, but I don't know what you're on about after that whole "gibs" bit. You start talking gibberish about some stuff that's clearly not canon. At all.
I don't like what they did with her in Korra either, but it happened.
I wish she had a happier fate and a loving husband. Seriously.
I refuse to accept cultural vandalism just because it was signed by the creators. And you shouldn't either.
ATLA had some proto-woke stuff, mostly delivered through Katara, but the show is well written enough that it doesn't bother me.
At least with Katara, it was believable and in character, rather than forced. Since if we are being honest, a lot of the hate for Woke stuff starts with it being forced.
Plus she was balanced out by Toph existing, so there is that too.
I'm willing to forgive most of the show's gurl power bullcrap when they make it a point to actually have equality instead of just harping on the guys. Awesome heroes and villains of both sexes who all get time to shine. And instead of making Sokka constantly wrong compared to Katara, they balance each other out and have pros and cons depending on the situation.
If the show was made today Sokka would get the Marvel treatment. He is the comic relief, sure but he has his amazing moments, he's also the smart guy with a plan for things. Today he would be a laughing stock and be made fun off, overshadowed by stronk wymynx.
Thanks, sounds good for this one.
