A political compass which looks like a communist made it, is somehow in a school textbook [American Government: Stories of a Nation by Scott Abernathy and Karen Waples] (twitter.com)

About the only one they almost got right was Stalin, and even that's off. I'm surprised they didn't put ol' Adolf further right, that's actually surprising. But, yeah, how are Trump and Cruz that authoritarian, or that far right? And how is Castro, a dictator, not authoritarian at all? And how in the actual loving fuck is Ron Paul basically not libertarian at all?! Or the most "far right" person on the list?!

Actual insanity.

Because he's dead and Trump is alive, so they have to make Trump worse than Hitler.

The libtard media is already calling DeSantis worse than Trump. Whoever they feel most threatened by in the moment, they call him the worst man in history, because in their libtard minds, he actually is. Anyone who stands in their way triggers the shit out of them.

Which makes me pissed off at all the people on the right saying DeSantis is a better option than Trump on account of him being more palatable, or something. To be clear, I'm not taking sides, not saying Trump or DeSantis is better, just that DeSantis being a better option because the left hates Trump is a moronic argument, that a lot of people tricked themselves into.

Nope, Trump was Literally Hitler, but doesn't mean DeSantis won't immediately be as well. I wish the right would stop basing so much of their decision-making on what the left thinks. That would be somewhat fine if the left had principles. Considering they don't, it's the most retarded thinking imaginable for the right to try to work around the left like this.

The difference between Trump and DeSantis is that the media attacks will work against Trump but fail against DeSantis, because the reality is that Trump is a raging narcissistic asshole who doesn't know when to shut his mouth, while DeSantis is a highly intelligent politician who knows how to fight media disinformation and win.

Nope, Trump was Literally Hitler, but doesn't mean DeSantis won't immediately be as well.

Your perspective is that the media will call anyone the Republicans run Hitler anyway, so we might as well run Hitler. No. The correct response to the media is to run someone who is likeable and who their attacks will fail against.

DeSantis is much better and smarter than Trump in fighting the media. Their attacks on him will be far less successful than against Trump.

I wish the right would stop basing so much of their decision-making on what the left thinks.

That is literally what YOU are doing, while accusing those who disagree with you of doing it. You're the one assuming the liberal media will be believed by everyone who we shouldn't bother fighting them on the merits.

As if any of that matters. The media is going to media, and the people who will buy into it will buy into it basically regardless of how absurd and obviously untrue it is. The needle might be pushed 1% due to the truth of the statement, but that's about it.

Your perspective is that the media will call anyone the Republicans run Hitler anyway, so we might as well run Hitler.

Where did you get that from?! I'm saying refusing to run someone that the left has called Hitler is absurd, since they'll call everyone Hitler. Completely different thing.

They have their talking points on DeSantis. If he's in government and DOES anything, he's an authoritarian. If he doesn't do anything, he's an economic RWNJ sucking off the corporations.

Don't expect there to be any rational metrics here. I'm not skimming the textbook to find out what they did, but the whole point of the Compass is to find out where you stand on the map by answering a series of questions. The same series of questions has to be applied to everyone on the chart, and you can't rate somebody else. (because just knowing one is being tested or understanding a bias in the question list would have affected their answers)

He's too far left. Lenin was further left than Stalin.

In my mind, Hitler should be dead center, on the left/right scale, and level with Stalin on authoritarianism. The maximum authoritarian level should basically be reserved for leaders of hermit kingdoms that virtually nobody is allowed in or out of, like North Korea.
