Honestly, is hard to think that the game will be bad. The original was great, small woke inserts will not ruin it. Odds are most of the new players and normies will not even notice the changes.
I am considering pirating it. I'll not pay for their game but I would like a graphical update if they do not ruin the scare factor and who knows maybe someone can mod the woke away ?
You could probably frame it more like, "original game mod" - making the game to look closer to the original.
As long as it does not become popular it should be fine.
The Nexus is annoying and we need an alternative, they have no problem with sex dungeons or killing kids but if you remove a pride flag it is going to far.
With a game that still runs and looks as good as the original, the question isn't "will it be bad" its "will it be worth playing in the first place?"
Because normally remakes are either moving them off long dead consoles, improving upon outdated controls or mechanics with QoL features, or changing enough entirely to be almost a new experience. In theory anyway.
This does none of that, just a small graphical upscale as far as I can see. Meaning it has no point in being played to begin with, let alone bought.
It added a few animations and changed mechanics a bit and added some things from dead space 2
It is a bit of an improvement from everything I've seen but not sure it is worth playing it. Definitely not worth buying it for the woke changes alone, I'm not going to give my money to people that hate me.
I'm on the fence.
I'll wait to see Synth's review on it, he seems like an expert on dead space to begin with and he said he will do a side by side between the original and remake.
I mean, even without the woke factor, that minor amount is not worth the full price. Maybe in a few years when its sub20$ for the novelty of a slightly different game.
But much like the Demon's Souls its not worth playing over the original in any real form.

People have been banned on the Nexus site for mods removing woke crap.

ModDB maybe? I always thought their UI was crap compared to Nexus but any idea whether they're social-justards?
Anything with community moderation is going to coalesce around a power core of terminally-online troons.
Anything with professional moderation is going to require a monetization model that consumers will reject.
TL;DR troons will eventually overrun everything.
