Yep. Lots of history. I live in Texas now but was born and raised in Oklahoma and we had to learn a lot about Native Americans and sometimes had tribal representatives speak with our class. Definitely a lot of warrior history and certain tribes were more powerful due to the same land conquest that was common across the world.
But they lived in harmony and peace. What were the warriors there for?

They were really into cosplay. They were just LARPers about previous warrior tribes. Who were also just really into cosplay, of course.
A lot of tribes also wanted to mingle and mate with the whites because they had cool shit and were better at stuff.
Being a Native American now is amazing. Everything’s free and you can start your own casino with black jack and hookers.
Look up the book Commanche Empire. It talks about the empire made during the European colonial period by the tribe.
