Complete hypocrisy from the co-founder of Just Stop Oil - colour me shocked! Turns out that she regularly travels the world, presumably by plane, and not for "activist purposes", either... Because of course she does. It would be naïve to expect otherwise, really... (archive.vn)

It's not about the environment, it's about grinding your face in the fact that these people are aristocrats - note the police's apparently completely inability to enforce the law on these toffs - and that if they decide that the rest of us must be reduced to abject poverty to promote whatever cause is fashionable this week, our lords and masters will go right ahead and do just that.

Anyone else think it's a tad "odd" that something like this allegedly sprung up "organically", and has managed to recruit so many members worldwide, and "achieve" so much disruption, in such a short period of time..?

I'm not being deliberately obtuse - we all know that what we are being told isn't the full story, but clearly it's rather... Odd, that a 23-year old "yachtswoman and student" could apparently found something of this size and scale, and keep it going like this, without, say, someone behind the scenes pulling the strings (to say the least)...

It's even weirder than Our Messiah Greta, TM...

Great way to get funds from place to place without anyone noticing.

Yesterday security guards watched as Hunt and fellow student Lazarus, who describes himself as a 'musician and activist', forced the National Gallery to evacuate art lovers, tourists and a class of 11-year-old children on a school trip from Room 34 where the painting hangs.

You did this to yourself England.

In Australia, a lot of this sort of stuff is being pushed by Mike Cannon-Brookes (of Atlassian, which you have probably heard of), who is, in short, the Bankman-Fried of Australia…

He is one of the largest political donors in the country, and actively buys shares in energy companies to run them into the ground…

Man destroyed AGL (gas, electricity provider) from the inside out, after buying out majority shares…

Now he is looking to buy up swathes of central Sydney, to turn it into his personal tech playground, including a “wooden skyscraper”…

Also this, which, if you know anything about youth hostels, is so dystopian it’s not even funny: https://www.hotelmanagement.com.au/2022/06/14/yha-rebrands-to-accommodate-modern-travellers/

YHA dormitories, formerly marketed to backpackers, as cheap accommodation, are now being sold as “co-living rooms”…

Cramped, shared with at least 3 others, some with no windows, and certainly no en-suite. And not even that cheap. Utterly dystopian. And yet that is what this non-profit wants to pivot towards…

“You will own nothing and you will be happy”.

Thanks, tech bros…

At a complete guess... Having so much power over other businesses, and potential access to so much data... Perhaps tends to attract a certain type of individual. Perhaps...

I also think that perhaps it is the sort of "industry" where it is not so much getting to the top on your own merits, as it is who you know, and who you can influence, let's say...

But again, I would be guessing.

Slack + Giphy is a perfect propaganda tool for the managerial elite and their minions. All the top gifs are corporate sponsored BS and clips from obscure TV shows.

This is essentially the archetypical comment from TheImpossible1. Whatever other verbiage or rhetoric surrounds it, this is the idea it usually boils down to, and why he can offer nothing going forward. I say we preserve this comment so we can have it stand as a warning and memorial.

Nah, this doesn’t have the brevity. Keep on message.
