Russia sensing the opportunity thought they could knock out both Zelinski, and a Ukranian army, to secure their borders.
There's a lot of people's faults at starting the war here, but the US is mostly in it for just corruption. The Globalist alliance also has a larger objective at destroying and subjugating Russia. China also benefits from the war because it weakens both players while only strengthening them.
