Taibbi isn't even that sharp, he's just doing his job as a journalist and these days that makes him look like a shining star.

I can't really think of anyone who's that much more nimble than Taibbi as a writer. On some level journalists are all overrated but this is a relative comparison.
Again, that's because there is no one else left, currently, to compare with him.
