I think the combat and story are much worse in callisto protocol. The story is a very dumb and obvious "prison guy/government is doing a bad thing", and it's all spoon fed to you.
Combat, well, it looks very dumbed down.
I do think that some of my thoughts are from watching someone play on super hard, where they were walls of health (which is also miserable).
Yeah, I just started replaying Dead Space to get the taste of this game out of my mouth and it feels like such a step backwards gameplay wise, it’s unreal.
I was so looking forward to it but it seems like its dead spaces answer to back4blood-- where in effort to make it distinct they went with all the decisions they wisely avoided in the first go
So maybe after they release the ng+ dlc (!!!) And it goes heavily on sale
Synthetic Man was livestreaming this and roasting it. Love that guy's channel, he isn't putting on a personality or even pretending to care about public opinion.
It flew under my radar, surprising since Dead Space is one of my all time favorites.
From what I've seen, I'll play it when it's on Xbox Game Pass or less than 10 bucks. A lot of the reviews and gameplay I read it sounds like the combat is what happens when a Souls clone and Dead Space get together, which is a total fail for me.
I wouldn’t say Souls so much, the combat more is similar to Punch Out if anything, but it gets tedious very quickly; doge one way, wait, attack, dodge the other way, repeat. And you do this for 90% of the game.
No, because I read the reviews and realized it sucked ass so didn't play it.
Good premise, looks decent but shit gameplay and design choices.
It's a shallower, shorter, and worse dead space.
I passed on it.
Something that made Dead Space work was really missing this time. Maybe we'll find out what.

That's kind of the theme with almost all of today's modern media: it was better more than a decade ago.
RE2make is the only time in my recent memory that it turned out good, and even that had some problems.

Which is even worse because the gore in this game really isn’t worth writing home about.
They reused the bisected head animation over and over again.
Honestly the Quake 4 stroggification scenes are way more disturbing as you go from being in complete control to helpless in just moments.
First genuinely uncomfortable gaming experience, 10/10 scene.
Never trust a game with heavy advertising and DRM.
I took one look at the steam reviews and the game rating and went back to playing Noita.
