Anyway it's nice to see cracks in the CCP's stranglehold as further proof that you can't repress people forever by just doing it "better" or "smarter", but this is only the beginning of a long process.
The interesting thing is that they're not protesting the lockdowns, they're protesting the fact that they still have Covid.
They seem to have internalized the idea that the government is supposed to protect them (which has a cultural heritage from millenia of civil war, banditry, and rule by warlord). This means they are not mad that the government has overstepped it's role by implementing draconian lockdowns, rather, they're mad that the tyranny hasn't worked.
It's a very different way of looking at things than we're used to but it raises a good point for the pro-government types here: why are you fine with the fact that the government has failed to eliminate, or even contain, Covid?
I just watched some videos and heard slogans against virus testing and lockdowns specifically.
In a front-page editorial on Sunday, the Communist Party’s official People’s Daily said China would “unwaveringly persist” in its Covid-19 policies and that “victory will be attained only by persisting to the end”. The People’s Daily editorial, bylined Zhongyin – which stands for “voice of the party centre” – emphasised correcting wrong attitudes, including “underestimating the problem, indifference and self-righteousness”. “We must resolutely overcome numb thinking, war-weariness, wishful thinking and a lax mentality,” it said. “Our prevention and control policies can stand the test of history, (and they) are scientific and effective... They are the most economical and effective. There is no doubt about this, and we should have full confidence in this.”
These protests won't go anywhere, because protests never do unless they're backed by a credible threat of force.
Here is a good video on the protests: https://youtu.be/vPRDLqggwQU

The current government no longer has the Mandate of Heaven.
Why would they need that when they have other 'Mandates' in spades.
Speaking of spades, seen any unmarked Chinese graves lately? No? What's in the fertilizer one wonders.
The mandate of heaven has been pretty thoroughly raped out of the current han "chinese" by the mongols.

We have pro-government types here?
I presume the feds are still pro-goverment (As long as it is theirs)
That is a very good question, and shows how the government is no where near as good or competent as many would seem to believe.
Now is a good time to ask them, "What else has the government been lying to you about, or doing in your supposed best interest?".
Time to make some people pizza
