Honestly that sounds like the majority of shows. I have no issues with interracial couples but my goodness they want you to think they are the vast majority. I also feel like if gay characters were in 3 to 5 percent of programming (not counting stuff specifically made for lgbt) people wouldn’t be so turned off. But this hyper obsession with diversity is ruining entertainment.
If you complain you get the “well not every family is a traditional nuclear family”. True but most are.
Funnily enough I got into lots of arguments with white supremacists on cringeanarchy who were super sure that interracial relationships were everywhere when it's a tiny portion of the population
Yep. Like I said I have no problem with them and would be hypocritical condemning them since I do have a little mixture myself. Just like other things today it’s massively over represented on tv.
This company was declared unprofitable last quarter, if they don't do something to stop this crap they are going to bankrupt themselves. With the company being filled with SJW activists, and woke CEO Bob Iger, I don't think anyone inside Disney is even willing to fix this mess. This company is literally killing itself. Goes to show that name and brand recognition can only keep you going for so long when the quality is awful.
I wanted to be honest that such policies exist, just in case someone brings them up.
I think their actions verify the hypothesis, personally. If they weren't the majority, wouldn't some of their unprofitable ideas have been winnowed out?
I'd like to gloat about how this film is another case of Get Woke, Go Broke, but honestly, this feels more like a write-off. Disney clearly didn't have any faith in it either, or else they would have actually given it some actual hype and advertisement. Seems like people only started learning about this movie's existence once news came out that it was projected to bomb. Heck, we can see the projected gross was pretty damn conservative (to put it mildly); $30-$50 million over the course of a five-day "weekend" for a movie that cost $180 million?! Yeah, they weren't even pretending that this had any potential, though it ended up being even worse than they predicted.
It doesn't matter though. Disney doesn't give a shit about profit, only about The Message, especially now that Iger's back in the steering wheel. Case in point: Pixar's upcoming tranny propaganda:
As Breitbart News reported, Disney’s Pixar recently released a casting call for the role of a “14-year-old transgender girl” in an upcoming animated project. The studio is looking for minors age 12 to 17 who “can authentically portray” the character “Jess,” who is described as “compassionate, funny, and always has your back.”
I do remember seeing some advertising for Strange World but it was completely forgetful. I did not even realize that they had a gay child in it, it was just meh, the color filter they are using is also incredibly bad.
So not sure if they did not want to hype as much as they hired diversity hires to do the advertising.
I watched a trailer of it myself just to sate my curiosity, and good god, it was so damn generic. It encompassed everything that I dislike or have grown bored of in western CG animated films. Same doughy character design templates, same damn scrawny, bumbling, socially awkward protagonist (though now he's accompanied by MULTIPLE bumbling, socially awkward people just to ensure that every scene is a cringefest), same eye-raping neon colors everywhere, same sentimental story about FAMILY (by people who've been trying to tear it down for decades). About the only thing it seems to do different is make everyone sound like an obnoxious modern-day hipster, including a damn lisper, which is a great way to take me out of the fantastical world they're trying to portray.
I just can't understand why it bombed, it has everything:
Don't forget "stunning and brave!".

They tried to cram in all the progressive tropes. Only thing surprising is that it is a gay son and not a lesbian daughter.
Should be a lesson there about not hiring activists.

So I could watch nearly any TV commercial for free instead of this?
Good, the more Disney suffers the happier I am.

It will be Christmas soon and they will sell a ton of merchandise, so there is that. Ironic because the SJW activists hate Christmas.
Yo I miss enviro-propaganda films that could pull off being preachy but were still fun kids films like Ferngully.
It was only good because of Robin Williams.
51% female board commissions garbage, is surprised when nobody wants it.
Chair of the Board has casting vote in a tiebreak, like the VP does in the Senate.
If all women voted for something and all men voted against, Chair's vote is the decider, hence 51%, their majority.
And you knew that, you were just trying to play gotcha.
Some companies have a 50% or less doesn't win policy, where any ties are failed.
I doubt Disney is one of them. Those policies are usually used when the board is temporarily shrunk due to illness or bereavement.
I wanted to be honest that such policies exist, just in case someone brings them up.
