I can update this table periodically as Elon starts to unban more and more people. 16.4% restoration so far. Obviously this ignores the countless unknowns that have been banned. Generally, only the famous people are in this one (sourced from Wiki's list here).
Greens are good! That means Elon is keeping to his promises. Pale red are neutral - Elon has yet to unban these.
But deep red is bad. This means Elon is being hypocritical. We want as few of these as possible.
Keeping the column for Reason would be informative, though a couple of them have it in More Info. I had to look at the article to find out why Mike Lindell was suspended. Not surprised. Though banning accounts like his, CodeMonkeyZ, PatrickByrne, TrackerTrial, and LiMengYAN119 would seem to only add fuel to "conspiracy theories". Did twitter moderators never hear about the Streisand Effect?
Part of me thinks that Elon is playing the long game with the unbannings. Unbanning Alex Jones, especially with the civil suit, is putting too much heat on a platform that's already in the sights of many litigious, regulatory entities.
May I suggest a pink highlight for people who Elon brought back who shouldn't be coming back like Meghan Murphy for example?
Why shouldn't she be brought back?
I'm a bit of a free speech totalitarian (at least within US law), so I think it's good that they're all back.
Because she said that male victims of rape are not real victims.
Also because Twitter doesn't need any more feminists.
I really dont see the problem with idiots being able to talk on twitter. Unban them all!
She's an idiot then. Thing is, I'm not sure if it's warranted she should go in the table anyway, because she only had 60.6K subscribers. I'm in two minds whether to keep the "Picks from the rest" data in the final percentage result.
I partially agree, but unless I stick to a set amount, it's easy to bias the percentage as progress, when it may not be. By sticking with this lot, it's harder to cherry pick and thus bias the data.
as a fellow spreadsheet loving autist I appreciate your efforts
Wikipedia's list loses out on a few things. You can't easily sort all of them by most users (you can for specific years, but not as a whole). The data has too much whitespace between each entry, and there's no clear colour coding for unbanned users. That's what I hoped to rectify here!
I wish Elon would do a one time mass amnesty for all of the accounts. That way he’d avoid accusations of favoritism and we’d have a better idea of how speech will be treated in the platform going forward.
I think a gradual approach is better as otherwise, it may backfire if tons of big companies leave (such as Apple already I think).
I never bought an iPhone, so I can't confirm, but isn't Twitter one of the apps you can download from their version of the play store? If Apple were to remove Twitter from their devices, then it's likely that Android would shortly follow suit. That would be a huge blow to Elon's efforts to progressively make this purchase profitable.
Apple will probably pull a CBS and come back as if nothing happened. They’re addicted to the eyeballs that Twitter offers.
Da fuk did a river otter do to make the bedwetters ban him?
If they reinstate Milo they should reinstate the tiny based Canadian lady he left holding the bag and pushed under the bus when he was going down for his grift. I think they gave her a helicopter ride for making a "Learn to code" joke.
I kind of surprised he hasn't gotten his account back. He was just a collateral hit by goofs trying to score on Trump
He's a tedious ponce but the trannys will lose their mind. Thus providing increased entertainment.
Give Elon time. He can't bring everyone back all at once, since it would exacerbate the advertiser boycott. He needs to win that battle 1st and make sure his new Twitter becomes normalized and survives the next month or 2 past the libtard tantrums, and then he can trickle people back in over time.
I think it is highly likely that Alex Jones will come back eventually.
Thats a great list - thanks!
(I try to ensure I follow anybody who got banned on gab/telegram or wherever they live now…. I didn’t even realize some of those people were banned…)
Did you see JamesLindsay is unbanned? He got banned for calling Groomers Groomers. @conceptualjames
Oh I'll add ConceptualJames to the next iteration, thanks!
Looks like they're all rolling off the board now.
Good list. Did Elon really say no to unbanning Ethan Klein? That is kind of funny because he unbanned Kathy Griffin who was banned for the same reason.
Edit: You should add John Doyle (@ComradeDoyle)
Unlike Alex Jones, Elon didn't say no, but he was banned under Elon's watch.
Letting the Nation of Islam or Ethan Klein back on Twitter would be unambiguously bad.
Credit for not including the TERF trash, bringing them back is a massive step back for Twitter.
I'm more concerned about Alex Jones not being reinstated.
Elon doesn't want to be the next person given a higher debt than the Federal Reserve by a court.
Elon has section 230 immunity
Feel sad about that. IIRC, he was a mod on the old T_D back on Reddit who was also a politician or something? He was super based, even for T_D which was a bit cucked back at that point.
How can a forum have a wife, much less one who will chest on it?
It can ban people for mentioning the USS Liberty, which is effectively a denial of one's own extended genome in favor of another's, i.e. cuckoldry.
That the ship that isreal attacked?
