Looks like leftists are trying to call Elon's bluff and pull an 'I'm Spartacus!' ?
It may even be a viable strategy. After all, if enough of them do it, and they all get banned, the platform's dead.
I've seen a lot of leftists shilling Mastodon in the last two days, including legacy media. BBC News put and article up explaining how it works - or attempting to, anyway.
I struggle to imagine normies ever using Mastodon, but it'll be interesting.
(X) Doubt
That woman who was impersonating a comedian came back on her dead mother's account. That's how badly these cultists need Twitter. Musk has them by the balls.
Not surprising at all. Most of em probably shelled out to a backchannel for a checkmark, too. Addicts gonna addict, after all.
Possibly, but they're narcissistic, dopamine addicts - they need their social media fix. They'll throw a tantrum, but I would imagine they'll come back as the platform is too familiar, too much part of their lives to let go.
That too.
Most addicts going cold turkey rarly last long saddly. They will be back.
Cool. Making a note to avoid Mastodon - thanks mate.
and if you get banned on one server, it might be possible to transfer all your posts to another given how they communicate with each other.
I've had an account there for some time, and mastodon is basically dead internet theory in action. Very few people interact with each other. I'd bet less than 20,000 active accounts across all the independent instances.
For a laugh you can look at all the twitter refugees introducing themselves. I checked like 50 of them, and 0 responses to any of them lol. https://mas.to/tags/introduction
Some other communities get outright banned from a lot of instances as well.
One of the guys I talk to in Discord mentioned this ... he took a quick look.
First page had an LGBT flag as one of the trends (of three mentioned), second page had furries.
Hard no.
(Apart from anything else, I'm thinking - without any evidence - that if they've got furries in the top six there must be a thriving CP community on there)
If you count lolicon as CP, then yes, it's run by Pixiv.
Mastodon looks like twitter, but it is not twitter. It a is decentralized system where anyone can run a Mastodon server, and specify which other mastodon servers that server communicates with. The result is that like-minded groups will see eachother, and only eachother, and basically nobody will ever interact with anyone their server admin doesn't agree with.
Needless to say, you can tell it was designed by leftists.
I mean, My Space exists. It's entirely possible that Twitter continues to live on past a purge, but it's also possible that Elon uses this as a weapon to purge the Leftist addicts and build something new to actually attract normies.
