Notably, routine vaccination rates for children (for measles, pertussis, etc.) are way down. Rather than debating the role that messaging about COVID vaccines had in this decline, we need to put all our energy into bringing these rates back up.
You know, I'm not antivax. I'm anti untested vax being forced on people as part of a political vendetta. I'm in favor of things like the MMR vax because "safe and effective" actually applies to them outside the false world the commie propaganda created.
The problem is that "public-health officials" destroyed their credibility by taking the left's side in the culture wars, so why should people believe them? All the political fuckery around the clotshot is absolutely responsible for people being less trusting of legitimate vaccines. They can't lie about one vax and expect people to trust them about another vax. If they want to convince people to take the legitimate vaccines they need to rebuild trust, and that's impossible to do without addressing the reason for that mistrust in the first place, which is the crap they pulled with Covid.
Pediatricians and public-health officials will need to work together on community outreach, and politicians will need to consider school mandates.
This is proof that they still don't get it. There are already plenty of these school mandates that allow for exemptions. The vast majority got the vaccines instead of the exception because they trusted those vaccines. The Covid fiasco should have taught them that mandates make people trust them less, yet they continue making the problem worse. How about being honest for a change?
How much research have you actually done into MMR or other vaccines? I was the same way, thinking that they were tested and I'm not anti Vax. But this whole episode made me realize how I need to comb real data and not just get shots cause it's the medical system telling me to.
Not trying to throw shade, but just saying to do your own research into these other shots as well.
One of the defensive, deflective tactics in all this was to conflate the new shots with older vaccines that were less controversial. They really didn't think that one through, because they assumed that everyone else's reasoning process is just as shame- and fear-driven as their own. My scepticism was fact-driven, therefore all they succeeded in doing was to make it clear to me that the same people prepared to lie about these new jabs are the same people heavily invested in defending all prior vaccines.
Welp, sorry, but that changes the entire calculus for me. Suddenly I start to suspect that the autism link worriers may have been unfairly disparaged. Suddenly I start to feel like a clown for never thinking more deeply about SIDS and 'cot death'.
After what they pulled, the only reasonable response is to never trust anybody in the medical profession when it comes to vaccines no matter who they are or what they say, even if they're right. They totally blew up many decades of trust in public health officials, a genuinely concept that will take at least 50 years to rebuild, purely to make money for Pfizer for about 9 months.
