Congress has no right to issue subpoenas unrelated to bona fide lawmaking activities. Their little witch hunt doesn't even pretend to be one. Not that I am fond of lawyering this. In general, if someone asks you to do something, you should be able to say "fuck you." Congress doesn't have special law enforcement privileges, nor any right to run trials for anyone who's not part of the government.
