if I remember correctly, wasn't he convicted for manslaughter and not murder?

Nope.

He all three of killed a man accidentally, killed a man on purpose while not committing other crimes, AND killed a man on purpose while actively committing other crimes. And amazingly, it was the same man killed three times. Chauvin was a master of time travel.
