I still support DeSantis 2024.
I agree if I was forced to pick between only Paul Ryan and Trump then I will be going with the wacky orange man.
Fuck Paul Ryan. DeSantis should clearly state that he does not want or need Ryan's endorsement.
I'm less than convinced on this point. One upside to DeSantis is that he might be able to win persuadable voters who were turned off by Trump's style. I know people will say that shouldn't matter and I agree, but it does matter in reality. Ryan is a faggot no doubt, but I'd rather have his wing of the party back DeSantis than some other cuck or the Child Sniffer. I don't think DeSantis would have issues getting the Trump base to back him either way, so as satisfying as it would be watching him tell Ryan to fuck off it would only hurt him IMO.
In my opinion, a Paul Ryan endorsement is very damaging in terms of appealing to the MAGA base and in terms of winning the rust belt swing states.
I think Paul Ryan is pure electoral poison.
If he's going to push investigations into the stolen election, destroy or reform the FBI, take control of the CIA, break up Big Tech, help MAGA populists take over the GOP, and drain the swamp (for real this time) then yeah.
DeSantis should not be alienating anybody, unlike Trump. That's just smart politics, which Trump lacked because his ego got in the way.
There is nothing wrong with Paul Ryan. He was a good pragmatic fiscal conservative. Trump just was a huge asshole to him so he obviously doesn't like Trump, but it's not like he started it. Trump loves to talk shit about everyone.
The only way the Right is going to win is by building a majority coalition, and that will never happen with all this bullshit purity testing. The sooner Trump gets flushed the sooner we can get back to intelligent tactical and strategic politics and start winning.
No Republican can win the presidency these days without keeping the MAGA base and winning the rust belt states.
DeSantis will expand the Republican coalition by not turning off suburban voters. DeSantis is smart enough to realize that Paul Ryan is a major liability.
The MAGA base absolutely hates Paul Ryan and he is electoral poison in the rust belt.
Paul Ryan's endorsement is a net loss.
I am fully DeSantis 2024 and even I utterly hate Paul Ryan for how he completely sabotaged Trump's legislative agenda from 2017-2018.
Republicans need to expand the coalition but not include poison like Paul Ryan which repels the base.
How? McCain did? But Ryan? Ryan supported the 1 major legislative accomplishment of the Trump era: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax_Cuts_and_Jobs_Act_of_2017
Leading Republicans supported the bill, including President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence, and Republicans in Congress, such as:[165] Paul Ryan, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives (R-WI)
Speaker Paul Ryan said in November 2017 that they would simplify the tax code so much that 9 in 10 Americans would be able to file their taxes on a postcard.[227] President Donald Trump said on December 13, 2017, that people would be able to file their taxes "on a single, little, beautiful sheet of paper".[227]
A group of 137 economists signed an open letter expressing support for the bill; the letter was touted by President Trump, House Speaker Paul Ryan and the Senate Finance Committee as support for the legislation among economists;
Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell completely derailed Trump's immigration, infrastructure and health care legislative agenda.
These two corrupt swamp creatures were content to pass a tax cut bill and call it a day.
With a Republican trifecta from 2017- 2018, the tax cut legislation was the only thing passed.
What a fucking joke.
I am not the biggest Trump fan here but even I wholly despise the GOP establishment leadership.
Mark my words, the MAGA base hates Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell with the intensity of a thousand suns.
Ron DeSantis would be smart to know and understand this dynamic.
He should expand the Republican coalition but he MUST NOT align himself with hated creatures like McCain, Romney, Ryan and McConnell.
