There was actually a old time right wing politician here who ran a death squad, and he wore a black cape to hide his MP40 (which he always had with him).

Very stylish dude. Look him up: Tenório Cavalcanti.

Rumor has it that another politician (who was eventually murdered) gave him the MP40 as a gift. He told Tenório that it had belonged to a SS sergeant and was brought back from Italy by Brazilian soldiers coming home from WW2.

Tenório used to brag that his Lurdinha (Brazilian privates used to call the MP40 Lurdinha, a girls name) had already a commie killing past, and that he was just keeping it going.

He also pulled that thing out in Congress amd pointed it at another congressman who promptly pissed himself.

The title may be ambiguous, but the article is pretty unambiguous. It strongly suggests that the Supreme Court is in the wrong here in persecuting (mostly) right-wingers.

This is just a coup. They make laws, enforce the "law" and judge in their own cases. It's tyranny.

Tl;dr for someone who doesn't know anything about what's happening in Brazil?

So Mr. Toffoli, the court’s chief justice, issued an order granting the Supreme Court itself the authority to open an investigation...It was an unprecedented role, turning the court in some cases into the accuser and the judge.

Ah, so the judicial branch just granted itself whatever powers it liked. I guess there's no such thing a separation of powers in the Brazilian government.

Last month, Mr. Moraes took on even more power, also assuming the presidency of the elections court that will oversee the vote.

In its investigation, the court discovered evidence that far-right extremists had discussed assaulting justices, were tracking the judges’ movements and had shared a map of a court building

Surprised? If you run your government like a banana republic, you're going to find more and more people think it's OK to overthrow you.

Damn, I just hijacked the other thread (about the Brazilian election polls) to talk about this.

So I'm gonna keep it short here:

ALL HAIL ALEXANDRE DE MORAES GOD EMPEROR OF THE SUPREME COURT. KING OF THE BRAZILS, MASTER OF THE TAPIRS, LORD OF THE SLOTHS.

It doesn't matter who the president is, if he's weak, the Senate and the supreme court will tag team him until his ass is pinned to the ground.

At this point I'm just waiting for Bolsonaro to leave the scene, so better, younger and specially HUNGRIER right wing candidates can grow. Because right now, he's trying to nip all competition in the bud.

And yet the Valerie Solanas Fan Club New York will still celebrate if Lula wins, the fucking hypocrites.

They're definitely bad guys for writing about how the rights of Bolsonaro supporters are being violated.

Bolsonaro is the winner, unless they cheat.

Lula will definitely win. The only question is whether he will win outright in the first round.

They rarely even feign neutrality.

Lula has already been president for 8 years...
