TBF, if you wanted to replace Robin there's very few people who even stood a chance. I don't think that was based on race swapping but "who the fuck could even try to replace Robin"
I mean...nobody stood any chance, that was the Kobayashi Maru of casting, but Will was about the best choice you could make.
That is exactly why they should not have made a remake. You cannot replace him that easily. In general if you got nothing to improve upon the original why even bother with a remake? I can think of a tiny number of movies that benefited from a remake like the Thing.
Nostalgia bait just pisses off more and more people, the Disney remake is even infamous now. Hopefully people will stop falling for that shit but I doubt it, most are still sheep.

I've haven't seen any of these live action remakes but there are a few that seemed to have the potential to be good- Mulan is probably the one that makes the most sense but they had to praise the genociders of the Uyghurs. Dumbo could have been ok as the original is very old but remaking 90s animated movies just seems off.
And frankly Robin was irreplaceable and there's nobody alive I can think of who could try and not be dissed into oblivion.

Second animated film wasn't that bad, I mean, apart from the story... Williams only voiced Genie in the first and third ones.
I've reached the point where I actively hate remakes, especially of things I love.
