Honestly we just need to let these franchises die. We got the books and the original trilogy. We need to incentivize new great works that aren’t woke instead of giving these queers any attention.

Thank God the LOTR Trilogy movies were made at the perfect time for the combinaison of technology for epic visuals, great acting, respect for the source material and correct casting.

They would never be made as they were today. They would shove non-Whites all over the Middle-Earth, interracial romances and invent Strong Wammen Leaders to steal half the show away from the source material like they started doing in The Hobbit trilogy.

I think it stands out that Boromirs death sequence and the real introduction of Orcs has yet to be matched in anything LOTR aside from the original trilogy. Unfortunately we keep taking two steps back in writing and three steps back in costume design.

Even it contained the beginnings of wokism, as Arwen rescuing Frodo instead of Glorfindel.

That wasn't wokism, that was streamlining. Glorfindel only has two scenes in the trilogy, both in the first book, so Jackson gave his scene to a different character who would be sticking around longer.

She was inserted because she was a woman. Could have been Elrond himself and it would even make more sense than books but no.

Agreed. As an 80s baby there was a time when I would’ve loved adaptations of the books and comic books I read. But good grief I never would’ve imagined the dumpster fires. When I read Stranger in a Strange Land by Heinlein I would’ve loved to see a film but I hope they never touch any great sci fi or fantasy again

I can't figure out why they haven't made any Neal stephenson movies

Because looking up words in a dictionary while I’m a movie theatre is difficult.

Sure there are aspects that would be hard to translate: nerd stufff, background, inner monologs. But I'd leave those out. There are other, epically filmable aspects like chases and explosions and fights. There's, uh, plenty of text to work with. I guess I'm thinking of Snow Crash, first. That's probably the most famous, although I'd probably rather see The Diamond Age.

Apparently HBO is making Snow Crash.

Why do you say that? I have some of his books but haven't read them yet. I haven't read them yet due to the fact that I have a large mountain of unread books to get through. Should I push those to the top of the "to read" stack?

You should decide what to read next based on your own interests. You may like SciFi but be more in the mood for Horror. Who knows but you.

Early Heinlein can be great. Read that Heinlein. Later stuff gets very weird. Honestly unreadable imho. Stranger in a Strange Land is a great book and it's probably where the weirdness begins.
