If you want to know why Nintendo is releasing the Switch OLED with only minimal upgrades to the screen and hard drive, look no further than the economics of what it costs Nintendo to make.

According to Bloomberg, the $350 unit, $50 more than the current Switch, only has $10 worth of upgrades, it’s estimated.

They most definitely did adjust for inflation, they just didn’t tell you.

They also make that as an option, not a command. Nintendo is also looking into shrinking the package size for games. They are aware of inflation and adjusting.

You do realize that the ps5 is made at a loss correct? Unlike the switch. The cost to manufacture a ps5 is still only $50 less than its cost, without adding in any development cost, advertising, or distribution. I had a switch that glitched on me an was essentially unusable after I bought an initial release, if you remember the drag issue that a lot of switch controllers had and made playing handheld mode impossible. The switch also still has a complete shitshow of forcing “non-primary” switches that you bought and have one account on to connect to the internet anytime you want to play a game, which happened to me when I bought a switch lite to have as a handheld. Sorry, but for all of Sonys shitty problems, hardware has never been an issue. My ps3, ps4, and ps5 all run great and have since I bought them. I can stream my ps5 on my ps4 or on a pc screen now.

So? Sony has a stupid business model and Nintendo doesn't, therefore Nintendo bad?

So you had a bad experience with your Switch that isn't indicative of most people's experiences, therefore Nintendo bad. Ignoring the near 100% failure rate of PS1s and PS2s (those nylon gears just didn't hold up very well.)

Also, my original NES, purchased in '85, would like to say hi. So would my Gamecube, purchased at launch, just to compare devices with moving parts. Unfortunately, my Microsoft and Sony hardware has all had to be replaced. My Dreamcast still works, but it admittedly didn't get a ton of use to reveal wear-and-tear flaws.

Sony hardware has historically been cheap garbage. But at least it's better than Microsoft hardware which is poorly-designed, cheap garbage.

LOL! This is a hot take, you couldn’t even buy a left joycon for years after launch. They later admitted they knew of the issue before launch and…. Did nothing to fix it, no refund, no repair, you just had to pray you got the issue before the 1 year warranty expired.

My PS4 has a static issue with it's HDMI. It only really shows up in 3D games. My guess is the soldering isn't perfect, but I don't have the skills to fix that.

I'm sorry about your experience with the Switch. That really sucks. I've really enjoyed mine, and have been playing a wide variety of games with it. My wife and I play Kirby, my kids play Minecraft, and I am playing Cuphead and Castlevania collection at the moment. We each have a backlog of games we want to play on the console.

Honestly, the playstation line is a really weird one. From PS1- today none of the sales numbers match up. This is around the time Sony creates a cheaper one if the sales aren't working. The PS3 Fatboy with full set up to the lesser fat boy, the skinny boy, and then slim were released as Sony responded to their sales numbers. But the sales of the console do not match the popularity of the games for it.

So a cheaper PS5, at this point in time, while the 5 year old competition doesn't seem to be suffering as much is a sign that something big is happening. It's a compliment to the Switch as much as speculation on what Sony is up to.

It wasn’t just me, a large number of original switch buyers got jipped, no refund. The left joycon was sold out for years because of it and you had to buy a full 100$ set for the second biggest flaw to hit which was the sensors not picking up handheld mode. I spent more money on switch products than any other console already and only have a lite now. Sorry, but Nintendo has one of the proven worst track records on hardware since the wii came out.

I prefer physical. Heck, I just bought Cuphead and really wished I could find the physical edition for it.
