Uygur joyfully continued, “I agree, and the original convention they say was … a runaway convention. It was, and it produced the greatest document known to man.” Lessig then smiled and replied, “Let’s have some more runaway conventions.” - Lawrence Lessig, The Young Turks, Sept 26 2011
Lessig and the other reformers behind Equal Votes say presidential candidates’ focus on battleground states unfairly tilts the national political agenda. Those states “are substantially different from the United States as a whole,” the group writes on its website. “They are older, and they are whiter. Winner-take-all effectively outsources the selection of our president to a subset of America -- a subset that does not truly or accurately represent America.” - Equal Votes, Oregon Live, 3 Oct 2017
“What I do fear is a country that has become convinced it is no longer mature enough to consider amendments to its constitution, that believes it is too sacred for ordinary people to touch. I just reject that. Basically, it’s saying there’s nothing we can do but go ahead with a constitution that, as currently interpreted, is subverting representative democracy.” - Lawrence Lessig, The Nation, Sept 2 2017
"Other issues now pressed by the left—the right to health care, education, housing, the vote, even a basic income—could also be raised in a convention of states ... The left shouldn’t be afraid of a ‘runaway convention.’ It should welcome one." - Richard Kreitner, The Nation, Sept 2 2017
The left has no hope of calling a convention and even less of it being ratified. The right probably doesn't either but it's within the realm of possibilities.
The keyword in the title is only. His point is voting isnt going to solve shit when the feds are corrupt and unaccountable, so this is the only peaceful solution we have left. This is the last political option before we have to resort to violence.
And in those decades, no other political solution has been found. This might not even be one but you can't know until it happens, though I doubt it will
It takes 2/3rd of states to call a convention and 3/4th to ratify. There aren't that many degenerate wacko states and if there is anything 3/4th of states can agree on (and there unfortunately probably isn't) it would be that the feds need a knee capping.
This is why the idea that there would be a push towards popular elections is bogus. The same factors that created the Great Compromise are still present. That is that lower population states still need to agree to the solution.
If anything, whatever the convention comes up with the high population states are probably going to try to call BS. Because they currently have a lot of power, whatever the leftist rhetoric on that topic is. They just don't have maybe proportionally as much power as would be justified by their massive (immigrant, non-American) population. It's still more than the other states. And, frankly, fuck these populations of NPCs.
You didnt watch the video so you missed the point.
There are no political solutions left except this. Thats what hes trying to say. Voting isnt going to solve anything because the feds are corrupt, so its this or violence.
Liberals will never allow a political solution. They literally refuse go leave people alone even when they actively avoid them.
Liberals are the ones behind a convention of states, so yeah, they'll give you a political solution, one in which you hand the country over to them.
Correction: There are no peaceful political solutions left.
... something something extension of diplomacy
Congratulations on teaming up with communists to write an entirely new Constitution.

If a convention is called, it'll be by leftists. Tranny right-wingers are not RWers.
So for people who dont want to watch the video:

Well this seems like an unbelievably bad idea.
It is.
Watch the video; 19 states have already signed on to have a convention. The process has already started.
And in those decades, no other political solution has been found. This might not even be one but you can't know until it happens, though I doubt it will
