Is there such a thing as living humble peaceful life in South Korea? Or is society structured in such a way that you are expected to move up the corporate ladder or change job if cant?
Don't know enough about South Korea to answer that but if it's like Japan's work mentality, they either assume you'll stay in the same position or at least company forever or they will make your life hell to make you quit if they don't like you.
Unfortunately the lifetime employment guarantee that Japanese companies used to have has gone out the window in favor of part-time/temp workers. It's still a thing in the biggest corps like Mitsubishi but generally Japan is more like America now in that you're never totally safe from unemployment.
(yet the second part about them bullying you out of places is still true)
