I just listened to a Jordan Peterson interview with some black chick entrepreneur. She seems pretty cool, had a successful career after growing up all over the globe, was currently working on establishing some brand in Africa.
All pretty good, interesting story, whatever.
Then she gets to the point where, paraphrasing, "well, Africa was the original entrepreneur culture. We were 100% capitalist and lived in free trade harmony until the white man brought slavery, then we chose socialism after we freed ourselves from colonialism because we were angry at the capitalists for colonizing us."
It was such a fucking pathetic cope from an otherwise accomplished person. Bitch, you didn't come from a society that even had written history. Even if what you say is true, how would you fucking know unless the white man came in and wrote it down for you?
Interview went from an interesting discussion on personal accomplishment, corruption and overregulation to "we was capitalists 'n shit" in the blink of an eye. Insecurity rears its ugly head in the weirdest ways.
To be fair, there definitely were Sub-Saharan African civilizations with the written word, in the last 500 years, prior to colonization by whitey (Benin, Nigeria, “Great Zimbabwe”, which is what the countries are named after), but you’re right, for the majority of the population of the continent, yes…
And they certainly weren’t “capitalist”, lol…
All of them kept slaves from other tribes. All of them.
Look up the “Great Walls of Benin”. Genuinely amazing thing. But guess who built it, lol? Fucking slaves!!
So her point would still be moot, even if she was somehow a descendant of one of those tribes/civilizations, lol!
Yeah, a bit of hyperbole on my part, but y'know. I'm not writing a dissertation here. Just rather fed up with listening to nonsense from otherwise intelligent people.
There was no "written word" in sub-Saharan Africa pre-European liberation and their best civilisations were just sprawls of mud huts, with mud walls if they were particularly sophisticated. "Great". Nothing "great" about them. None of them advanced beyond the stone age. This picture of Renaissance Wakanda comes up first when I search for the "Great Walls of Benin" - ...optimistic.
I feel sorry for them, everyone needs a civilizational history to be proud of. That's why so many of them are so easily manipulated to want to destroy ours.

What did Peterson say in response?
Anything less than a complete verbal smackdown is unacceptable.
