To be fair, there definitely were Sub-Saharan African civilizations with the written word, in the last 500 years, prior to colonization by whitey (Benin, Nigeria, “Great Zimbabwe”, which is what the countries are named after), but you’re right, for the majority of the population of the continent, yes…
And they certainly weren’t “capitalist”, lol…
All of them kept slaves from other tribes. All of them.
Look up the “Great Walls of Benin”. Genuinely amazing thing. But guess who built it, lol? Fucking slaves!!
So her point would still be moot, even if she was somehow a descendant of one of those tribes/civilizations, lol!
Yeah, a bit of hyperbole on my part, but y'know. I'm not writing a dissertation here. Just rather fed up with listening to nonsense from otherwise intelligent people.
There was no "written word" in sub-Saharan Africa pre-European liberation and their best civilisations were just sprawls of mud huts, with mud walls if they were particularly sophisticated. "Great". Nothing "great" about them. None of them advanced beyond the stone age. This picture of Renaissance Wakanda comes up first when I search for the "Great Walls of Benin" - ...optimistic.
I feel sorry for them, everyone needs a civilizational history to be proud of. That's why so many of them are so easily manipulated to want to destroy ours.
