They always try to downplay jealousy, but kinda admit to it when asked. It's unhealthy to fight for someone's attention at all times. Just like it is to force multiple unrelated adult men/women to live together and act like they are a family, basically a set of siblings or a children's camp. It's not even like roommates, because they are expected commitment to the well-being of the "unit".
I agree: he's pretty much the last of the "Old Left" in academia, who actually seems to care about the working class and to understand the importance of traditional values to working class communities. His economic ideas are still bullshit though.
