Excellent movie! Honestly it was like watching a movie made in the late 90's/Early 00's when you could have masculine and feminine characters. I also want to get Amleth. If it is a book that one can buy. I bought Hamlet but that is one of the few popular Shakespeare plays I haven't read. I will read that soon as well. But for someone who is very down on modern day entertainment it is a pretty big deal for me to enjoy a modern day movie.

I saw it in the theatre and it was well worth the $6 Tuesday price. Compared to what Netflix did to Vikings, Northman was absolutely incredible.
Eggers is an excellent director and this is another good-looking, solid movie, low on bullshit or ideology, but I still think it's his weakest so far. The main guy's charisma is lacking and it's just a bit too simple. Really it just made me want to rewatch Conan. Still worth the watch.
Also worth the watch is Harakiri (1962) which I watched last night.
Thanks! I have a lot of Conan comic books and the complete Robert E Howard stories. A good Conan movie today would be awesome but yes I want to rewatch the 80s one
Did you ever end up reading any Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser stories by Fritz Leiber after I recommended them to you? Just curious what you thought of them if you did end up reading them.
It’s on my list. Unfortunately I have a very long list of books to read but I remember and will read them. I’ve heard good things about it.
I understand about an unfortunately long list of books to read. To possibly add to it, Clark Ashton Smith's short stories, especially his Zothique cycle, are like a strange middle ground between his friends and peers REH and Lovecraft.
Robert E Howard’s Conan stories are in the list. And I’ll check those short stories out.
In my expert opinion, it was 8/10. It wasn't faggy, and the scenery was really good. Fighting was good. Story was pretty okay. Characters were okay. The lead woman should have been hotter. Too skinny, and her face was a little goofy.
I haven't seen the movie yet (really really want to), but was it Anya Taylor-Joy? Because I'm convinced she is a freaking alien. Or at least that she has some genetic.... something. She has a very weird face. Sometimes she can be super pretty for like a split second, but then it's like... what are you?
She was the only good thing in that shit ass New Mutants movie.
The squirrel from Ice Age. Her eyes are on the side of her head.
Nah, the creature from Splice, that fucked movie with Adrien Brody.
Anna Taylor Joy is the great divider, everyone I talk to thinks she’s either the hottest chick on earth, or a creepy alien.
Personally I think she’s a really hot alien, at least when she covers up that forehead.
I mean we could have worse looking lizard overlords
She definitely had an odd looking face but I’d still date her. Although I’ve been single for a while so my standards are dropping lol
She's not bad at all. Still, it's a movie. Line up a bunch of 9.5s and 10s and find one that can act.
"story was ok" sounds like a 6/10 at best not 8
Okay storyfag. Go read your Harry Potter.
Haha. She is, though. No body.
Women with wide hips, big tits and asses are healthier and more fertile than starving waifs who can't carry a child to term. That's why men prefer them. Look at paintings from western culture. The women are thicc. The brain warping comes from pedo media pushing women who look like 11 year olds.
And the big anime titties vs. Flat is justice argument continues
It was OK. I would have preferred less Iceland and more origin story from exile to warrior.
If you want more viking goodness and can handle mostly atmospheric landscape shots and not much talking check out Valhalla Rising.
Cool! Thanks! I’m in the mood for that kind of story.
It wasn’t what I was expecting or hoping for, but I liked it overall. I wanted something a little more kickass though, like the 13th warrior or something.
Yup.
Zero Vikangz, unlike some Wokeflix show.
Hamlet is disappointing, but then again it is tragedy.
Ok, I'll go look for it. I am an avid bibliophile so this will be fun. Plus my DNA said I was a 2 to 3% Scandinavian so I can connect with my heritage lol.
My African was all over. I know I have some Senegal. Most of the European I have is English so I figure the Scandinavian comes from Viking raids.
You mean Viking liberation of the English curs. You’re a fellow scand, quit siding with those English dogs.
Wouldn’t that make for a great comedy movie. After discovering my Viking heritage I take up the sword
That would require a sense of humor about race. Could take a blazing saddles meets Clayton biggsby approach
True. People would see me and I could wear a copy of my DNA ancestry results to confirm my Scandinavian cred.
