What is it with drag queens and kids these days? Is this a new a thing or are we only just noticing now?
In the past my image of drag was mostly gay but not always gay guys that liked dressing as women as comedy or burlesque. Some of them liked doing it in their personal lives too, and others were prostitutes, but it was basically freaks who liked pretending and doing freak/glam shows. It was this weird adult entertainment thing and had nothing to do with kids. (someone will chime in that ALL homosexuality is about pedos, ok you can make that argument if you want, but that's not my point) The phenomenon of transvestite entertainers has existed in other cultures too, without all the attached queer gender bullshit happening now.
Now women (who seem like the real pedos here) enjoy taking their children to drag queen shows for... reasons? And suddenly people are ok with this? Even police in Texas?! In the 80's I imagine if someone took a kid to a bar the drag queen would be like "Honey you can't have that child in here." But today people are like "Children MUST be exposed to this reality!"
Yeah, this is something I too never understood. Even if there were no danger of sexualisation of children, why is there drag queen story hour? Are drag queens known as exceptionally good readers or something?

They started doing it in Québec too. The push is "global".
I suspect it's to prevent "transphobia". The kids get exposed to men in dresses, wigs, and make up, and think "This is normal" is the theory.
These days? This has always been their thing. They're just confident enough to not bother hiding it anymore.
