Snopes hasn't cared about facts in a really, really long time. They'll weasel word anything to sound negative toward those they dislike, but will wholeheartedly admit no wrongdoing. Despite that, they seem to have some unearned credibility. It was started by just two democrats who decided to fact check before it was cool. The ministry of truth doing it for free before they created one. The hot pocket munchers of the internet without their own sub to lord over.
I am guilty of unwittingly sharing their links with family members who would pass around chain emails back in the day. It seemed like a good idea at the time.
Sounds like that's before the world collectively went nuts. When we thought people had respect and deserved the benefit of doubt.
I remember when snopes was saying 9/11 conspiracy theories weren't true, that's when I knew something was up with them
I prefer to get my fact-checks from the Bee. Much more accurate.
