Whenever I can I still do that. I remember my dad always telling me to e careful on the net, tons of weird people and predators on it. I don't own a Facebook account, any place I usually use with front facing name does not have mine for the world to share. We need to go back to that not only because of the grooming but because it's the smart thing to do. Facebook has done so much bad for the privacy of people, they now willingly give out their data and that is what has to change in people's heads.

It is quite the dichotomy. Growing up, we were told to obfuscate as much info as possible. No names, locations, birthdays, phone numbers.
Now, most sites demand that information and some sites will ban you if you try to get away with not giving them your information.
Every idiot has to have a phone to exist in society in the modern era.
But owning a desktop is a choice, made by the more tech-savvy.
Be the change you wish to see. Start leaving your tracking device at home.
